| Aiming to buy a R9 460 driver but undecided to which flex to get. I know the best solution is always aftermarket custom fitting but I'm on a budget and hopeful to get a shaft that suits me as closely as possible.
Currently, I'm using Proforce V2 57G stiff which I find is a tad soft and light for me. For irons, I use NSPRO950GH Stiff and can hit my 7i 140M.
I read over golfwrx that the Motore is extremely stiff and that created more confusion.
Anyone with any inputs on which can be more suitable? Any advice from DGman?

| Bro, think best to do down to Big Fish where you can go on trackman to find out more. Think it'd be difficult for DGman or anyone to give you best advice here. My 2 cents worth | |

| Understand your predicament that you are on a budget but in my opinion, i feel that if you have to spend a couple hundred dollars more for your game to improve, just do it!!!
You will not regret getting a custom fitted shaft rather than that of a off the shelf shaft.
Going for a custom fit is not only bout finding your correct flex... to me, its about learning and understanding more bout the game that you have come to love!!!
Knowing more bout your equipment will give fresh perspective on your game!!!
In the meantime, enjoy your game!!!

Anyone with any inputs on which can be more suitable? Any advice from DGman? Honestly, i don't know what's the big deal about everyone promoting Big Fish in this forum. It's like a perceived monopoly of club fitting and shafting. There ARE other club fitters around, monsterlonester, so decide wisely. Anyway, If you're hitting your 7-iron 140m, I'm assuming you're an average-joe golfer with a handicap of about between 14 and 18, so going with the for the Fujikura Motore F1 Regular would not be a bad option. Make sure you get it spined and balanced first. Jef from Golf House can do that for under $30. I'm using the TP Motore F1 65 Stiff on my R9 Driver, NOT the R9 460. My driver swing speed, measured today, is about 97mph. Nothing to shout about I know, but give the stock shafts a try first. They just MIGHT be the perfect option for you.

| You could also go to the Taylor Made Concept Store @ The Cathay... Look for their inhouse fitter (Theodore Seah)
If you buy a club from him... The fitting is FREE!!! If not, Fitting is around $100...

Hmm...whats the point of spining a R9 when one will be turning the shaft and trying out different setting? TPF, I am not trying to be rude, but I don't understand why you state that everyone here is promoting Bigfish when there are post where other fitter are recommended too... Hi monsterlonester, if on a budget, I would suggest check out any demo day for taylormade products and try the shaft out before you decide... also it's hard to conclude reading forum on products of a stock shaft as they might varies from batch to batch. Just my 2 cents

| it may seem that the major clubfitter here is eric from BFG, and thats only because he's the only one thats vocal in this forum, sharing the poisons and knowledge. other clubfitters are not involved and hence the opinions here are often skewed and a tad biased. that said, no one's stopping the other clubfitters from coming here to share their knowledge or advertise their services. if anyone feels strongly about their clubfitter just like CYP does, feel free to share.
the supporters of BFG are just more vocal and probably bigger in number here, but I believe in the neutrality that this forum is about.

ditto to that, golf abt 80-90% talent, then 10-20% equipment, that talent part depend on individual, but on the equipment front, if i know i can max out the 10-20%, i will go do it, i will convert the might to know so that if i screw up my shots, i only got myself to blame..... thus wont be itchy backside to buy a good game....jhmo

How can u come about insinuate monsterlonester is an "average joe" with a Hcp of 14 to 18 just because he hit 7 iron to 140 m, further to that, u state " I dont know what"s the big deal about everyone promoting Big Fish in this forum" and worst you went on to promote Jef from Golf house!!! Why shoot yourself on the foot???? be objective leh!! So can I assume u are a very accomplished golfer yourself , a pro? or 1 hcp ( you use " TP "motore F! 65 stiff leh! and not R9 460 woah solid stuff). Ha ha , on this forum I am new like a 24 hcp. in golf, apologies if i offended anyone. I like to shoot straight same as my golf game. cheers, lighten up there are more things in life than golf!

It is you, who assumed. If you read my post again, you'd realise that the objective was clearly stated in the last sentence when i told him to try out the stock shaft first and not waste money replacing the shaft immediately after buying. Continue to shoot straight, and68low.
GolfNuts : Maybe i didn;t make myself clear enough. Apologies. What i meant was, AFTER he has found the right and the best setting for him, then go down to a clubfitter, remove the head and sleeve and grip, get the shaft balance point, and then replace everything. The club will be subsequently very much more balanced.
Anyway, apologies if I've offended anyone by my opinions.

Average-Joe Golfer. Aiyoh TFP, you dun read rules and regulations dun you??? Cannot mention about shop name and stuff in forum leh. Wait they will catch you. If i remember correctly, you also KPKB about the singapore idol thingy also. Average Joe golfer??? looking at your equipment, I think you are quire pro yourself leh. To use PX 6.0 is no mean easy fit.. so its either you are damn good a golfer or you are wrongly fitted. How will a guy know that the setting is right for him without being fitted? So i guess you are a self thought fitter who felt that PX6.0 is good fo you. THen Kudos to you for your talent. Asked most of the people here, clubfitters who are professional enough will never hard sell any items. So far, i felt that there is alwas some people who underestimate their own ability and the clubfitters can help imrpoved their game, but there are also some people who overestimated their own ability and get pissed when clubfitters tell them that their current setup is not suitable for them because the player is unable to play the set to their full potential, but then again, men always have ego, hence they might say that the clubfitter dunno anything. Nevertheless, please observe forum rules lah..... And spining of the shaft should come standard leh... $30 i feel for spining is abit expensive. But this i dunno, no knowledge of spining.

| mate my advice its to take a 10.5 .... because even me a -2 handicapt or even tiger wood and many other pro now changing to 10.5 ... i experience differnet drive but it depend on ur swig but like me i cut the angle of the driver by 1 its why i advice fitting because my dad 14 handicapt use TL-5 loft and never hit better n longer because the shot is normal i mean the flight n lauch is as normal not too low ......... | |

| Hi Cyp, i thought driver, we supposed to hit the ball on the upswing??? I just want to know more... by cutting the loft of the driver (that is my intepretation of what you wrote). Which means your downswing is very steep and you are hitting into the ball? Well, looks complicated... for us average joes, if we need to cut a 10.5 deg driver by 1 deg... we just get a 9.5 deg driver.... simple... | |

| I do agree with CYP, 10.5 is more than good for average golfers like us. Just play around with the shaft and get a fitter to find the right one. | |

| on the topic of budget....u could try to get a 2nd hand r9...as cheap as possible (disregard the shaft, u only want the head). anyway factory fitted shafts are generally crap....ask most fitters get a fitter and get shaft fitted..tell him the budget is sub$300. ACCRA is a pretty good shaft (IMO) and decent price (sub $300 is possible, maybe $200). not sure if you can get the sleeve for r9 fitted on ACCRA thou? anyway, u didnt really say what is your budget..and i dont know what is the price of a new r9. i hope this is feasible for u?? | |

| I think you should get a loft that suits your swing, rather than change the swing to suit the loft. I personally use a 9deg cuz my normal ball flight is impossibly high. Anyone to recommend maybe a good 7 or 8deg driver? | |

| Tiger is using a 10.5 driver head with a low launch shaft... i believe that keep the ball from going too high...
considering all other factors constant, how much difference will that 1 or 2 degrees make??

| Hi weesern, I believe the few degrees might matter more than you think (I may be wrong). Think of it as putting, start it on the wrong line, chances of making that putt decreases substantially. That's in terms of feet. Now to factor in drives of 200-300meters/yards. Think the launch angle plays a huge part. Again, I could be wrong and way out of line. I'm no pro only pro-blem | |
