PostSubject: Why I decided to go for a "swing surgery"   Why I decided to go for a "swing surgery" I_icon_minitimeSat Jan 09, 2010 8:54 am

I had a free swing analysis.
After watching the video and hitting about 50 balls based on the new swing tips, it works! My ball dispersion was tighter and contact is more solid.

But I must say this swing method is not as elegant as Ernie Els's swing (my idol)
Nontheless it produce results and that is what I want.

The concept is very simple and make very great sense - SWING ON 1 AXIS as oppose to the traditional of lateral movement and weight transfer.( which to me is swinging on 2 axis, this give more room for error.
The concept is emphasing more of arms swing rather than using the big body muscle. I am not too sure I would agree to this.

I had my first lesson lastnight and now going to do some practice........I will update you later if it is really that good!

seebayho, are you talking about single plane swing?

If your ball dispersion is tighter, you would be a nightmare to playing against with.

From what you are describing I think you are tryying the RSS. Once you do the drills and eliminate your old habits you will see major improvement. The short game techniques are what impress me the most. Good luck bro. You won't regret it

MC I am not sure about single plane swing. Regit I had the analaysis done it OCC.

Just came from the range at Bukit Batok.....here is the report.
Generally the balls lands softer for pitching, 30% of the time the ball bouce 2-3 time and checked. The ball dispersion is also tighter.
I usually practice in 10 balls at a time, so I can roughly knows what is my percentage of my objectives.

Using a lob wedge, I hit 10 balls to 50 meters of the articfical green.
80% lands on green
40% check and stays on green.
60% rolls off green

Lobe wedge to 60 meters give:
70% land but only 30% checked and stays on green.

I hit 10 balls with 5 iron to the "river" of the range, to test the dispersion accuracy.
I was impressed that 70% hit the water.

Since I am changing my swing, I changed to a more upright stance.
Now I am hitting more on the sweet spot.

Conclusion: Very happy with the 1st "swing surgery" I just had 1 lesson and might not be doing everything correctly. However this swing could be a the expenses of better distance ....or I could be wrong?

Had 2 lessons so far and practiced today.
Seems that the magic have gone.
The new swing's doesn't really work today.
Lucky thing the dispersion is still good.
Well just be patient......

bro...

be patient laaa

i have been playing for 2 years now and still have intermediate lesons with my coach..

everytime going to range, my swing change.. so i adopt an idea...

"no stroke better then got stroke"

Cos my distance is more or less there. I just focus on 2 things...

Rythmn and ball striking. Once you have a reasonable swing.. these 2 things will bring you to another level. The more you try to be more conscious, the worse. end up frustrating yourself..

Rather, i focus on my wedges and putting a lot. I use 4 wedges.. 48, 52, 58 and 62.. reduce my score a lot... putting is saving me too....

Thats just my opinion..

yup. I echo andrew-golf's sentiments.

just got to be patient with your new methods. especially if you are re-learning the whole swing. stick to it for a while and then we will be able to see truly see how it performs.

Swing surgery takes time to heal. Took me abt 6 mths to get a decent enuf switch to RSS, still not perfect, but at least I am getting 80% - 90% of it. Beauty of this swing is its simplicity, not too many check points to worry about. Jus do the drills prescribed no matter how silly it feels or sound and I am sure you will see positive results very quickly. One other tip, check your swing in front of the mirror as often as you can, you will be surprised how helpful the feedback you get from the mirror. cheers

agree with RogY, swing surgery takes time. i spent 6 months, just getting my old stubborn muscles to switch to RSS; another 6 months to get myself to where i am today. still have pretty of room for improvement and more lessons in the pipeline.

i m guilty of going for RSS lesson but nvr stick to it...... Sad
basically trying to know more abt other swing...or how does a swing work...

whatever swing changes or swing technique, if nvr put in effort to learn, practice, lesson, all oso no use wan...

i reckon u need 6-9 months to learn how to feel comfortable abt the new changes..
and another 6-9 months to see the real effect....

not forgetting getting it check by yr coach every 1 month...

tht's how i feel..... coz i m a slow learner.... Sad

JK, since you have gone through the swing lessons.
You can just change the swing bit by bit.
Start with cutting the weight transfer and swing with the only front axis.
It can work too, without changing the rest, try it it works for me.
