| Hi, Have booked flight and all set to go for this trip next year. Going with Lion Air, cheaper than Air Asia and comes with 20kg baggage allowance for only SGD78 return..... Anyways, read thru the sticky on the travel tips and got lotsa useful info. I was planning to carry my driver and 3 wood onboard... feels that it is much safer rather than leaving it in the bag. Not sure if this is allowed in the first place or has anyone ever done this before........ I've seen how the baggage handlers do their jobs and its a pain to see a broken shaft for your driver and wood upon eaching your destination.... Also, thinking of buying those big huge hard case travel cover... not sure what it is called but I am afraid that it might be too huge and bulky to lug it around.... currently have a normal travel cover with padded top for the driver heads......... Have not decided on where to play yet therfore any recommendations are welcomed. Also can anyone suggest a good comfortable hotel, since we are staying for 4 nights... prefarably one which is near or connected to shopping centres..... Budget wise around SGD$200-$250 per nite. Appreciate any feedback, input, suggestions to the above...... Thanks you. Forget all the missed birdie, eagle putts of 2009 and look forward to another great golfing year in 2010.... | |

| I was recently in Bogor, about an 1 - 1.5hr away from downtown Jarkata. The place is slightly up in the mountains. Cooler weather than Jarkata. Played 4 courses there, Emeralda, Bogor Raya, Ranchamaya and Gunung Gelis (spelling may not be correct). Very nice and natural hill courses, but better to go with tour operator as they can get better discounts (we went with GolfHub). We stayed at Novotel, which is just next to Bogor Raya. There is one other hotel that is near to shopping centres in town, I think it is called Satika Hotel. Was told by the guide that there are about 200 courses in and around Jarkata, so spoilt for choice. However, I have not played in Jarkata itself, so cant comment or recommend. | |

| Don't think you can carry the clubs on board the plane. With that hotel budget, you can actually stay at the Shangrila (last time I was there, they were charging about US$ 150 per nite.
One course you should try is Halim 3. Rather new course and very well maintained. There are two other courses by the airport. One is Chenkarang (just beside the airport which may be a bit noisy) and the other one which is slightly furthr away (just cannot recall the name). The ones that RogY mentioned are pretty good too though hilly.
Hope that helps... Enjoy...

Hope that helps... Enjoy... Got a quote from Sari Pacific Hotel (Pan Pac Chain) for US 110 in club room..... sounds like a steal but not too sure of the hotel conditions though... Yes heard about Halim 3 too and will see if can fit it in my schedule. Thanks Blee.

Thanks Blee. You are welcome. Sari Pan Pac is a bit run down. You might want to try Hotel Nikko which is a bit further down the road. Ask for the new wing. It is also near Sogo Shopping Centre as well as a host of other new Mega Malls. Cheers.

The caddies there are real eye candies. They have to meet certain selection criteria. Caddying skills are also quite up to par. So I think you will enjoy playing there. The clubhouse and changing rooms are also well designed, course is rather resort like but in good condition. Certainly must try if you have the time.

| You can try Damai Indah at Pantai Indah Kapuk or at Bumi Serpong Damai (there are two courses, on by Trent Jones, the other by Nicklaus). These are the sites of Indonesia Open and World Junior Golf Championship. Slightly out of town though, but no farther than the courses in Bogor area (mention above).
Halim 3 is the newest in town, but green fees are almost the same as in Spore courses for visitors on weekends (S$200+).
If I go to Jakarta, I like to play old courses (walkers) like Rawamangun, Pangkalan Jati, Senayan, Halim 1 or 2 or Kemayoran. Damn cheap, and they still have short par 3s where you can hit a 9 or PW.

| If you're willing to spend another 2 hours on the road, I suggest you go and visit Bandung, my hometown. It's a very cool place (25deg daytime) to play golf.
There're lots of beautiful golf courses there, and unlike Jakarta, you'll feel much fresher when you play golf. Dago Endah Golf, Mountain View, Jatinagor course, and Kopo Indah Golf Course are very popular there. There're many more golf courses there...

| Hi all, will be golfing in JKT on 8-9 July. Plan to play Cenkarang after I land, and Padang Golf and Modern CC on 9 July, which is a NSRCC affiliated course. I tried to research this course but could not find out more info. Cheap though, on Sat, pay IDR 215k. Has anybody played there before? Is it a course to play or miss? The distance is about 25km from Mercure Kota Hotel which I am staying in. How's the traffic conditions on a Saturday mid-morning to tee off in the afternoon (only pm slots are available) and the expected travelling hours? I heard so much about Bogor Raya. Will try to squeeze in a round if possible. Any idea about the distance from the city or airport to play on Sunday? Thanks in advance for you advise Cheers | |

| Traffic is maddening bro. Give ample time e.g. 2 hours commute just in case. Better come early and relax at the clubhouse. If you come from Kota, take the outer ring road west towards the airport, then continue on the ring road south towards Tangerang or Bumi Serpong Indah (Puri Indah exit). Do not go into town. | |

| Thanks for the advice . I'll have to leave my hotel at 10am then, if I want to tee off at 12 Just checked Google Maps, Bogor Raya is on the other side so looks like I'll have to miss that one. | |

| Oh what else can be 'hot'? I am playing Cengkareng and Padang Golf and Modern CC. My itenary will explain why I can only play afternoon: 8/7 Taking 9am flight and arrival into CGK at roughly 10.30am. After customs, will head directly to Cengkareng for lunch and tee-off. After game, will take a slow journey into Jakarta and check-in. Will be checking out the night spots till late. 9/7 Wake up around 9 with hangover and quickly get ready to depart for Padang Golf and Modern CC. Another slow journey of 2 hrs to tee-off. Same plan as above after golf 10/7 H.S.H. | |

HEELLOOOO...you just answered your question. You're staying in Kota lei Let me give a more explicit clue Last time I play at Cengkareng, my scorecard came back signed by the caddy, very complete signature, including phone number and what time she's off (6pm). And they dont only drag your cart around and handling your clubs... they also try to give not so subtle hints on what else they do. (ps and wmf, the exact words were: gua suka batangan lho....) Anyway, Modern CC is in Kota Modern right? Tangerang? on weekdays, two hour sounds like the minimum you should cater for. If you're unlucky it may not even be enough if you plan to have lunch first But you plan to play on saturday so two hours is more than enough time... the traffic during sat and sun is much much less... what you have to cater is time needed if you lost your way hehe.... Good luck and enjoy

| WMF - well I just learnt golf for 6 month lei... haven't got time to explore everything.... Imperial oso quite hot. There's one in bandung that caddies don't ride behind on your buggy... ride on lap instead.. (disclaimer in case Mrs Dimwit reading: not me not me... my customer hor... My caddy stay in her rightful place on passenger side of buggy since it's a flight of 3). Never yet try Royale... will give it a go next time! I will say to them you recommend, in case you get loyalty points to collect for a free "ride" I can help though, with his plan for "nightlife" checking: 1. Alexis (I know he's in Kota and alexis in ancol.. not too far right? hehe..) - have to try hor... no regrets. 2. Diamond 3. V3 4. 1001 5. Classic hotel... | |
