Forgiving Clubs Empty
PostSubject: Forgiving Clubs   Forgiving Clubs I_icon_minitimeWed Apr 19, 2017 8:04 pm

Hi Gurus,

I had just completed my lessons and moving from range to the course. My current "2nd hand worn out" clubs works well in the range. However, my (previous) coach loan me his "Ping" clubs and it swings beautifully. To contradict this, he mentioned no use buying expensive clubs when you are still working on your basic.

I'm torn between getting a set of 2016 Taylor Made M2 or go for a "value for money out of fashion" clubs like Callaway Warbirds.

Seeking all the shi-fu out there, what's your recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

No right or wrong to buy the set that appeal more to you, unless you want to buy iron with blade design (punishing if you dun have a good contact when striking). Taylormade M2 is design for wider range of hcp player, you can go swing the clubs during demo before deciding.

I would recommend getting a forgiving set thats not too expensive,  in anticipation of a change when you upgrade to the intermediate stage.

The M2 is a set that should be able to last you from current till past the intermediate stage.

Cheers

Hi Chivan,

I'm not a guru but i've experience the same dilemma a few months ago.
Depending on your budget you might want to consider between making custom fitting a new set or adjusting an old club.

If you looking at getting new clubs fitted below are some places you may visit.
1. Ping (OCC)
2. Miura (punggol)
3. Mizuno (NSRCC)

If your looking to do custom adjustments to an old club
1. Sigma Golf (Ubi)
2. Big Fish (bukit merah)

Here's my two cents.

Get something that you like and within your budget.

Even if you get something that's "value-for-money", but you don't like it, chances are that you will change it soon enough.

2 KEY Considerations :

(1) The correct shaft weight + flex to match your golf swing speed
(Golf swing speed can only be determined by a golf ball flight monitor like flightscope / trackman)

(2) The proper lie angle
(which a decent golf fitter can adjusted by bending quality forged golf irons heads)

See the 3 min 40 secs portion of the following youtube video
