| Folks,
I've been contemplating on getting memberships in JB. For now, looking at Poresia, Palm Resort and Legends. Played all 3 of them. I am still unsure if I will make it worth while. I do golf on alternate weeks in JB but never do shopping in JB.
Want to seek yr views if it is worth the money or I should just go on ala carte basis since there are frequent offers from agents which are also very competitive.
I was told that even with a membership, when member plays, they still have to pay for caddy and buggy fees. So, is there any savings on having a membership then?
Much appreciate your honest views.

| Hi,
I think it is a matter of calculating how much you pay for the membership, the monthly fees as well as the cost of the game (i.e. buggy and caddy fees) vs a non member's fee when playing (including the promotional rates, if any).
The other thing you might want to considdr is that you will be tied down to the club that you chose, so you have to choose very carefully.
One last time to consider : if you want to let go, can you sell the membership easily? A friend of mine wanted to sell his membership at Kukup whilst another wanted to sell his at Pulai Spring. No takers. In the end, they just lapsed it.
Not too sure whether that helps.

| Khorkar, Do you usually go play in JB on weekdays or weekends? I am on a Palm Resort term membership, and i pay only buggy fees of 35RM for each round. No monthly subscriptions.
We did the math... its only worthwhile if a) u usually golf in JB on weekends and end up paying weekend guest fees b) u clock at least 18 rounds per year or 1 - 2 times per month.
as blee mentioned, it may be difficult to sell off a regular membership, but for term member, just pay for 1 year, after that if wanna stop just cancel.

| My 2cents: #1 If one plays especially on weekend, then membership will definitely be cheaper.. #2 But also need to consider if you have kaki fm the same club...else, LPPL becos usually golfers (non-membership) will like to play other courses after awhile
Guess it is the same if you are considering in JB or SG or even Batam. But the plus for SG, is that you can use conveniently the other facilities for family.
Fm this forum, I think we have a few GR-ers fm Palm and also Poresia...so considration #2 is more or less mitigated
So in a nutshell, if have spare cash, sure...

| Typically, I am play weekday but will likely need to play more on weekend, no more leave.
I wasn't aware that Palm Resort have a term membership for 2 yrs. I will have call up and find out a bit more, it is a good deal if it is 1.4k and no subscriptions. I am sliding towards Palm Resort for now as it has more reciprocals with other clubs. Nevertheless, I will need to think abt this again. Also, being relatively new to golf, I don't have many buddies to jio and play.

| Methinks more impt if you have a regular group of khakis to play with at the club that you join. :-) | |

| hi there,
Allow me to share my personal experience.
I was once a member of Palm Spring in Batam and it was a costly affair. It wasn't that bad initially but the ferry price increased a few times, so ended up per weekend game came up to almost S$100 with food and drinks. Gave up my membership since no one wanted to buy over but no regrets as it was very relaxing playing there.
I was "clubless" for almost 1-2 years and didn't like the feeling of having to think which course to play, who to call, etc. I then purchased Poresia afternoon membership since 2+ years back because I found a group of kakis who play every Sunday. I have also trimmed my spending by hell a lot.
Bottomline, forget about selling your membership for Malaysia clubs. If you play 2-3 times a month on weekends, you will get back the money in less than a year as compared to club-hopping. Important thing is to find a group of kakis that belongs to a club and join them.

| Palm Resort can buy 2 years term member? I am thinkin to buy term membership as well. Palm Resort has 3 18hole courses, so I think it quite worth it neh. But from the website, it says term member is only for foreigner (excl Singaporean) We can buy ma? If so, I will ask 1 of my kaki to buy Palm Resort ler.. | |
