I saw the DIY option, but that means having to go get a torch. Someone even suggested putting in oven after coking, so the heat is more evenly applied, but my wife/folks will kill me for using the oven to bake a wedge Very Happy

According to various sites, flaming seems to strip the finish, which promotes rust, which should give better spin. The flaming process, however, also creates a bluish finish which appeals to some people

This is also the first time I've heard of it. I will say that the post-flamed photos look nice but I'm worried I'll end up damaging the wedge in the process.

Flaming a wedge is offered at a couple of shops here.

Due to the cost of labour, I think they charge USD$80-100 per wedge head. Almost the cost of a wedge itself. Much better to DIY if you can.

the only damage happens when the Rage decides to throw his wedge into the cart path after a duff shot...flaming will not change any properties only the coating.

I'm fearful, DGMan - is that something which has happened or may happen?

looks like the best way to get the chrome off is to do a bead blast....

i have a hogan putter (bead blasted and coke ready) which should be flamed soon.

Eh DGman, video and post the whole process can? Be interesting and informative. Better have disclaimer like those extreme shows also. "Don't try this at home!"

or it could be putter becomes metal scrap....

now wondering if extra virgin oil or synthetic motor oil will have different effects on finishing.
