| If any of you guys are passing through and want a game, feel free to drop me a PM at least a week before so I can make booking arrangements. Will be taking up a 1-for-1 deal at Troon Golf so can play for half rate at The Els Club and The Mongomerie Dubai. I will try to update winter and summer green fees here when I get back to Dubai tomorrow evening. | |

| Golf in winter (peak season) is usually in the region of RM450 to RM650 per round. Not cheap, but most of the courses there have beautifully manicured greens and fairways, much like what the pros play. Around this time, a morning round means playing in 15C, and afternoon rounds are around 26C. Just perfect | |

| Troon applies to my home course Abu Dhabi Golf Club (home of the upcoming Race to Dubai Leg next weekend!) and the newly opened Saadiyat Course as well! - ghoonk wrote:

| Abu Dhabi Golf Course is having winter rates of 375 RM for residents and 475 RM for tourist! Till April 2010. FOr those of you guys who think rates in UAE is good, and even better after the TROON one for one deal, you guys would love the fact that most green fees here comes with unlimited supply of (usually very good quality range balls, ADGC for example uses pretty new Callaways) range balls before and after the games. The practise/warm up facilities of bunkers/chipping areas and grasssy driving ranges are realli a joy and that makes your money go the extra mile too! Another super value for money course is the Riyadh Golf Course in Saudi Arabia. Just had a game today (and hit my first birdie and chip in of 2010!) and paid 200 RM for 18 holes... Interestly, I have yet to play a course in the GCC so far with caddies. Kenneth you seen otherwise? - ghoonk wrote:

| Nope, no caddies on my end either. Gps caddies only.
I checked the troon golf card programme and the one for one only applies to published, non promotional rates only. Pretty much comes up to the same rate after you apply the club promotions that are going on these days. | |

| Yah! GPS! Thats the first thing that excited me when I am in UAE. Cos previously all my games were in ASEAN till now. Makes it really sweet when you have the buggy parked by the ball and the assurance of the right yardage w/o having to run around to look for markers on the ground huh - ghoonk wrote:

| OCC had that as well. Loved it. Only thing is, when buggy not allowed within 100 yds of green, and if you find your ball in that area, that's where GolfShot on my iPhone comes in useful. Not that I can control my yardage within 40 yds that well, but it gives me something to work with | |

| Jurongtiger - you quoted some prices in RM? I recalled last year this time when i tried to get a game in dubai, it was all fully booked and they were in the range of 800-900 AED (or more). | |

| Easier for us to relate Malaysian Ringgit rather than UAE Dirhams. Exchange rate is the same. Depends on when exactly in Jan you come and if there are any promos going on. 800 AED is prob near the highest rates for Winter/weekend. Try Winter/weekday/twilight/play with UAE resident/member and you would be delighted the fee can be more than 50% off - engngee wrote:
