Batam : Batam hill or indah puri or sukajadi or .. ?

Hi guys

i am planning a one day trip to batam on this week end.
Anybody have recommendation or course current conditions ?

We already played tering bay and palm springs twice so we we investigating other options ..

Batam hill or indah puri or sukajadi or .. ?
I put out southlink out of the list because it is more expensive ..

I have played at Tering, Palm, Indah, South Link and Batam Hills. For me, Palm Spring is the most challenging course among them. Batam HIlls not bad of a course, except 'cow grass' most of the course.
Indah is an average course.

If you are planning more 'day trips' in the future, recommend to try one by one to get a feel to your preference.

this time i am looking for something more enjoyable than challenging.
Since for one of my friend it would be his "real" 18 holes so i dont want him to panic on every hole hahah

Cow grass is usually a no but i have never played on "proper" cow grass if something like this exist.

how would rank them ?

Forget Sukajadi, caddies are crap, greens there are also unpredictable to a large extent. If you do not want to die of frustration ~ avoid at all costs, you are better off at the other courses in Batam.......

Kenny...in that case I would recommend Indah Puri for starters. Average course with one to two slightly challenging holes. Caddies and staff friendly. Close to Sekupang (about 5 mins bus ride).

Ranking wise...(the rest...pls correct me if otherwise)

Played in Indah Puri many years ago and have not gone back since. Indah Puri is also cow grass if I recall.

Southlinks is quite an easy course. If I am correct most of the holes are pretty straight to the green. I too find that the green fee is too expensive.  

Sukajadi is buggy on track course. Played there once an don't intend to go back. Caddies are not great. They are all new and inexperienced. Maybe try it out in one of your day trips. At least you can say that you played there before.

I enjoy playing at Batam Hills. It may be cow grass but it is cut short. Overall a nice course. And buggy on course, I like!

I agree that overall it is a nice course, but in terms of challenge level....I would still recommend Indah Puri to be less intense.

In terms of Caddies. I think the ones at Palm Springs and Indah Puri are better, as in related to the game itself.

In terms of course condition, Southlinks is still the best...

Indah Puri buggies run on petrol/diesel and are quite old...

Batam Hills is enjoyable. I played there last week.

for beginner, i would consider course that allow buggy to roam everywhere.
it's not fun to see your shot going all over the place, and it's sure is no fun to run all over the place to looked for the ball. i would think that buggy will help with the frustration tremendously and could be the make / break for enjoying the game. Or maybe that was just me when I carry 24 balls per game everywhere in my bag.....

Good suggestion! 

For me it was at least about 30 second hand balls.

Hi Guys !
quick report ! so we went to Southlinks on Sunday - tee off around 10.30/11am.
Course condition:
No rain when we were there but unfortunately it rained early in the morning. The course was "wet" but not damped, so it was quite ok. very playable, no damped divots at every shots, the fairways were drying fast and the greens were quite fast (more than 9).
So it would say good condition.
Only "problem", buggy on track !
Maintenance wise, i would say for the greens very good, for the fairways not too bad. At some spots the grass was mixed with a bit of cow grass. But i saw on some holes the efforts to plant new patch of grass - zone under repair - even if it did not look like the course was in desperate mode. So it is a good thing !
The course is not difficult in my opinion, very enjoyable layout and few nice looking holes (especially on front nine). It is quite long, some long par 4. Very forgiving, large fairways. The bunkers are very well placed though, often at my distance :s but it is ok to avoid them. Lots of water but not always in play. not too many OB. Only 2 or 3 dog legs. Good course for all levels (i was with a single digit handicapper to beginners). More on a enjoyable side than on the challenging side for sure !
[the putting/chipping area - very good condition, especially the "around the green/chipping zone" - bouncy and soft just how it shall be !]

Weather:
morning it was cloudy but very humid and then little by little clouds disappeared and it was super sunny and super hot !

Staff:
Very welcoming overall - we did not interact much with them though. "Only" twin sharing caddy  (which is good for the caddy, they got more tips!). Ours was very gentle. But no particular added value on the game (mainly for the distance, in case i was lazy to take out the telemeter). No cute caddies for our flight , so i cannot judge for the rest of the troops :p but it did not look like it is one of their "strength"/plus.
Only thing is, which is not major, is that they did not allow us to group our 2 flights (we were 5 ppl in total) even though there was nobody on the course ... (not crowded at all) but no big deal ! still good !

Price wise:
I find a tad expensive though for what it is. but i can see the "extra money" goes to the maintenance.

Overall
Unfortunately i was too busy to play that i did not take any pictures .... too focus to get in the zone ! :p Anyway everybody enjoyed the course, it was good fun !
