can anyone tells me whether the new range of Honma irons (IS03) a good set?
If yes, should i buy 45g or 49g?

| I afraid no one will be able to answer you on that here.
Suggest for club fitting session to know what kind of shafts suit you. Cost around $80-$120 per session. Quite a good assessment to ascertain yourself rather than getting something that doesn't suit you.

| I have done that before and went for custom fit.. Unfortunately it turns out to be ugly.
Some of my friends suggested me to try Honma where they claim the clubs are quite forgiving

| Sorry to hear about your experience, but probably the fitting is to get the data of what shafts to use rather than making purchase from the fitters. | |

| No doubt about it, but are u suitable to play below 49g shafts. Will it change your swing momentum, etc. | |

| honestly, i have a fast swing. I am trying to get distance and accuracy.
I do not know how true these clubs that can give the addition distance but I do know that it has pretty good review. Having said that, it comes with a price

I do not know how true these clubs that can give the addition distance but I do know that it has pretty good review. Having said that, it comes with a price From my limited understanding and observation... Fast Swing may not equate to Distance + Accuracy and definitely doesn't necessary means Good Score which ultimately is our desired end result .... By using a very light shaft (49g for irons shaft is considered very light) and a fast swing, you need a lot of practises and consistency to get that accuracy you really want especially in the irons.. Unfortunately golf is the opposite of other sports like tennis or baseball, where the faster n harder u hit the ball, the further it'll fly.. More often than not, for amateurs, the fast swingers tend to make more serious mistakes.. (again, I emphasise on important factors like Consistency and Solid Ball Striking) I have seen very strong (muscular sense) players whacking the daylight out of the ball. But they don't hit far nor accurate. On the contrary I do know of some senior champions would swing slower but hitting further and more accurately.. Physics don't seem to make sense here.. But again, Consistency in Swing and Solid Ball Striking takes precedence... I really don't know your game level nor swing style, but i've seen my fast swinging friends slowing down their swings, or taking just 3/4 swings, and as a result playing better golf.. Lastly, perhaps things may have changed, but my understanding of the Honma philosophy was designed to help more senior players with slower swing speed getting a better Smash Factor on the ball and as a result further distances than their old irons with certain forgiveness and dispersion of the ball.. Have a great game mate ! cheers.... p/s: ChrisD swings fast n hard, think he's using some heavy steel shaft and he is dam accurate...

Cos we tend to drop the club instead. . Think the best investment we have is to actively engage a good coach. . Wish you a great golfing life. .
