i saw a 2nd hand set from 4-SW at Creative. Not sure if HT01 is available in Pan West or Honma shop anymore, because HT-01G is out now.

correct me if i'm wrong, but most honma irons i've seen come with graphite shafts. these shafts also tend to feel rather whippy.

in any case, i think they are catered for ppl who have money to burn

i'd recommend miura or yamaha irons over honmas.

I am no expert to Honma golf clubs. Below are my observations through some simple research from Internet. Please feel free to correct me if i am wrong Smile

honma is all about their shafts ...

their shafts are graded from 1-star to 5-stars (i remember seeing 6-stars shafts somewhere, but cannot remember anymore). Their price is also go according to the number of stars, USD100+ for a 1-star shaft club, to USD 10,000+ for a 5-Stars shaft. Yes, its the price of one club, not one set of irons.

the more stars it has, the stiffer it is.

so if you need stiffer shafts, you need to pay a lot more ...

Don't forget Yonex ... relatively unknown, but the GI model that I tried at BFG was very easy to hit, was giving me great smash factor numbers and also with tight dispersion ...

If you have the budget for Honma, can definitely consider Miura, Yamaha, and Yonex as well

got to agree mike that yonex is something good that is worth every bit of your dollars.....sort of like bfg irons after seeing someone hit it in the range with quite an decent distance....

i've read somewhere, the shaft for honma is what makes them special. its the technology in the shaft. yes, it is very whippy, swing slow also ball will fly quite far, saving you lots of energy.

I am using Honma clubs and I can say not all honma shafts are whippy or helps increase distance... it depends on the weight of the shaft (e.g. 40, 45, 49, 54, 62)

I'm using ARMRQ 49 on my hybrids and ARMRQ 54 on my woods (my irons are on steel as my set is the IC-01 series). I find both Honma shafts to be very stable and the kick/release point is very consistent (which given its weight, is a very difficult property to have thus it is really a very good shaft). I am using Stiff and they don't feel whippy at all (esp the woods) .My driver head speed is around 110-120mph.

As for forgivness, the HT series should be forgiving but do avoid the IC series as they are the most unforgiving clubs (both irons and woods) I have in my bag and feels harsh even on slight mis-hits, but they do still allow you to shape shots with ease. Comparing the same lofts, my honma irons are about 5-10 meters shorter than my PING ansers and also lack the buttery/soft feel of the Ansers... but they are still good looking clubs.

Honma got a store in wheelock place. But honma come in a heavy price. Entry for iron I think around 3k. The price goes up as the stars on the shaft increase.
