| Living in Japan years ago afforded me the opportunity to try/use many different sets of Honma Irons. I could find sets in the "used Shops" with 2 or 3 star shafts (Boron, Lightweight and Ultralight and Hagane Steel shafts ) at very reasonable prices. Speciafically the LB-280, LB-606, PP-717 etc. At the time they were not only the premium sticks in Japan but they did use the latest in R&D and production techniques for their shafts.
They are still outstanding and were well made clubs (older models). But like most things a bit aged. I'd play 'em in a New York Minute if given the chance.
Cheers, KT | |

| Tried LB280 and LB300 in graphite...too light for my liking but recently tried my frens' LB280 in matt "black" head (not sure worn out or reconditioned in black finish) in hagen steel R1 shaft...very solid and sweet on impact. The flight is more penetrating than most iron I tried (not sure it's the lofts or shaft).
My fren bought used from Joe Lum's Creative Golf @$500+ (10 irons from 3-9, incl PW, AW and SW). Great buy in my view and all clubs made in Japan. Grab one if you can find another set. can try Joe' pl.. he often import Honma and S-yard stuff from Japan.

does anyone in the PGS using honma irons? Bro, Honma clubs are all hand-made. Refer to http://www.honmagolf.co.jp/mono/c_0.php?lang=en It takes 6 months to make one club. With the fine finishing, some with gold-plating, forgiving irons together with sakata shafts, it definitely worth the high price. When doric titanium shafts are fitted to the clubs, it makes them very light-weight, hence easy to use. (Different models come with different shafts). The more stars the shafts have, the more expensive it is. Every single set of clubs come with serial numbers.
