Thinking of getting a set for my kid who is 7 yrs old. Contemplating Taylor Made / Cobra but now callaway selling only ~$250 @ panwest peminpin. All reviews on these 3 brands are welcome : )

Weesern is correct, but not only length also weight and loft.....

Ladies Driver is around 12 degrees, Juniors should be about 14-16.

Junior 5 iron should be around 30 degrees, some of the new ladies sets are doing this but the older ones are not.

You want to make golf fun, not many 7 year olds are strong enough to swing ladies clubs, in Sing the salesman will sell you whatever they have to move, I have lady student 6ft 1 in, the salesman tells her you are tall enough to use mens regular... what a joke, she has no upper body strength and can barely pull the tab on a Tiger can... so she hates golf!!!!!!

I know I did not start developing my arm muscles till I was 12 and we got colour TV and Daisy Duke in NZ......... Very Happy .. well one arm anyway......

Bottom line, there are clubs for everyone now a days, get the correct one and get started on the right path........

Thanks for all the inputs.

Besides length, my biggest concern is the flex of the shafts. Probably due to the shorter length, I can hardly feel the flex pts of most junior clubs with the exception of TM burner .

After much research, decided short-list to 2 : TM burner / Cobra... appreciate review if you / your kid happen to have tried one.

Thks

Can consider Gosen and US Kids too.

My kids - girl (6) and boy (9) - are using these and they can handle the weight of the clubs very well.

If you think that your kids are serious in golf... you should get them fitted. If you watch one of the clinics that TW hosted, he mentioned that kids should be fitted. You do not want to have your kids swinging like john daly in future.

Maybe you can also consider visiting a clubfitter who has junior clubs.

There are club designers/component suppliers who now specifically make junior clubs.
I've always admired Tom Wishon for his golf equipment and designs.
He has junior clubs called Future Pro, fit this with a proper shaft designed for kids; and the kid will have fun and enjoy the game..

I've seen these in Singapore. PM me if you are interested. (Not nice to post here, wait ppl say I'm advertising for them etc.. hahaha)

Ssquirrel, it is ok. We have nothing against members advertising for any brands even if you own it. We only remove those scam shops

Is your kid taking lessons with one of the academies? The coach should be able to advise. My daughter started out with US Kids when she was 7yrs old, they recommend the different range of clubs based on the height of the kid. This you can get at Golf House. The clubs are light and get progressively heavier for the older kids. She is now 9 yrs old & using a set of Cobra junior set, weight wise, so far so good for her. I like this set bcos, there is an additional hybrid which you dont find in TM burner. She likes the hybrid on the fairway.

Read this forum, here is my brief cummmary:

Diferent schoools of thought .

QUestion here:
Any different opinions on the above?

If they just got started, perhaps it is good just to custom made 1 club for them to try. This , I think should last them from 3 to 12 months. If really serious you can try to custom made the rest of the clubs. So at least $ welll spent for the time being. I had just seen many children had full set and later give up golf due to study or their lack of inteterets. But of couse, if it is a good buy on the junior set then it is completely a different thing.

Try Honshin at NSRCC or BBatok CDANs, 1 club for about $50 and the club is customise to the height of your precious. They may still have the beginners' grip that helps them to adapt holding the irons.
Very Happy
