- First off Kenny I'm not sure where you get the 120-150 SGD per hour.
The good coaches I know don't charge more than 100SGD. Granted it's still a decent sum.
I'm thankful I've found a coach who's near my place and clicks well with me. No fancy bullshit from him and no hard selling as well. As for fitting, I've been to almost all the fitters and found a couple whom I click as well. And you're right on the money issue, I spent a bomb on golf this year but it's money well spent because I love it. And in the long run, these expenditure will last me for a long time. A Teaching Pro from Seletar CC charges $120 per hour as far as I know ... But I can't comment if it is justifiable or not as I have not seen him teaches ... But a personal pal of mine said he is good and the amount he paid was justifiable ... It is therefore boiled down to the individual needs and definition of what makes a good swing coach ... Actually you are partially correct. The rate you gave is for a number of hours. There is another package that brings it down to below $100.

| Are there any coaches in SCC that dun coach by package but instead coach by charging per lesson?
If that's the case, how much is per hr lesson charge?

If that's the case, how much is per hr lesson charge? Willy. All coaches are open to per lesson. Just the right $$

| If one has been to Ueno (Tokyo) used golf shops, you will find loads of pretty new drivers on sale. they are all in X flex. i was wondering why for the longest time.
So in a recent trip to Japan, i managed to meet up with my principal, Mitsubishi Rayon and asked them about all the X flex drivers on sale. Some of which looks brand new. The answer was pretty interesting. it seems that most of the Japanese golfers do not play as much but spend more time on the range. There are loads of guys who think they are an X-flex who swing in excess of 110mph, hence the choice of shafts. Whatever they cannot use, they sell it off at huge discount.
I am sure if they take either option suggested by the thread starter, they may have saved more on equipment and thus probably save a lot more $$$. More importantly, they may actually lower their score.
But golf is a journey as some claimed. So the time spent in the woods is part of the journey for some but for others, life is too short for the hanky panky.
Have a good journey and remember golf is not about how far you drive but how well you arrive. Otherwise there will be a column to add your driver and iron distance on the score card.

| I have always been a supporter of beginners and even oldies to see a coach / instructor. I am am fortunate to know a great instructor here and have been with him for a good 4 years. I know when I am not hitting well but unfortunately I can't see my mistakes and neither can my other golfing friends. I see my instructor average of once every 3-4 weeks and it most certainly helps that it only cost me SGD$30 per hour. As for fitting, have not gone yet because BFG does not have a shop in HCMC. | |
