PostSubject: Weight of clubs.   Weight of clubs. I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 29, 2014 7:18 pm

Bro and sis,

I need some insight.

I have 3 sets of mizuno iron:

1. Mp60 nspro 950 R
2. Mp53 nspro 950 R
3. Mx23 TT tx90 R

I weight the 5 irons of the sets,

400g from mp60
410g from mp53
420g from mx23

Question, are the weight difference mainly from the head? I am thinking of changing the shaft of the mx to nspro but afraid that the total weight may end up the same as before. I liked the mx but feels more tired than the other sets.
Tinkering to get pull outs from the market place. Is changing shaft just simply remove the old and insert the new ones? Or do the fitter add some weight inside?

Hi there,

I believe nobody can answer your question unless you remove the heads and weigh them individually. Or unless you can find data online from the manufacturers.

Seems like you are talking about actual weight of the club. Then yes the fitter can add weight in the tip (as much as 9g) or if you don;t mind tungsten powder into the shaft. Grips can also change the weight of the club. Of course changing shafts as well will change the actual weight of your club.

And yes changing shaft is as simple as removing and inserting new ones. Subjected to the condition of the tips of your shafts.

Hope this helps.

Isn't it easier to find the shaft weight and work backwards?

Do some dumb bell workout and train your arm strength. This should help, I think Very Happy .

Hi Sunnydaze,

Was also unable to find any info on head weight, but here's wat I managed to find:

NSPRO 950 Regular weighs 94.5g
True Temper TX90 Regular tapered weighs 98g
True Temper TX90 Regular Parallel weighs 104g.

So putting the NSPros into you MX23 heads should decrease the overall weight of your clubs. You can also play with swing weight so that the clubs may feel lighter in your hands. Go to a fitter, i'm sure he'll be able to give you more valuable advice.

good luck
