I don't think it's your open club face. If it's open club face the ball will slice. I believe it's more to do with body alignment. more and more pro told me like that. I think I need to pay more effor to adjust

| Had the same problem. Probably club face was open when we hit the ball. What I Try doing these days is I deliberately close My club face when I down Swing. U try.... | |

Here's another short video I've created to explain ball flight curvature.
The purpose of these 2 videos on ball flight are to help golfers understand that:
1. The ball starts close to clubface not path. 2. You do not slice just because your path is out to in. If your clubface is more left than your out to in path, your ball will start left and hook. 3. Bigger difference between clubface and path, more the golf ball is going to curve.
though these videos do not provide solutions, it will help with our concept on ball flight. Besides, more often that not, our concepts reflects how we swing the club.
Cheers and happy golfing.

| Hi Justin, So if I am consistently pull hooking the ball, my club face will be facing left and my club path will be either straight or to the right?
Is that the correct assumption?

Is that the correct assumption? Yes. Either that or a very bad toe hit.

Is that the correct assumption? Yes. Either that or a very bad toe hit. Thanks a bunch! I have always thought that I had a out to in swing path that caused my pull hook and worked hard on the path. Now I know the real reason for my shot shape. Another swing issue that I have is a closed club face due to an incorrect wrist cock on my backswing. This should be the cause of the closed club face at impact. I guess I will have to concentrate on keeping the toe pointing up towards the sky during my backswing then. Am I thinking correctly?

Am I thinking correctly? Yes could be a possibility. Do have a look at your grip as well though. Wrist cock starts with how we hold the club. If you see more than 3 knuckles in your left hand and the finger nails in your right, you'd most likely shut the face going back.

Will take a look at that when I am playing or at the range. I shudder to think that the issue is my grip as that will take a lot of time to get used to a new grip. I have one of those heavy training club that has a grip guide which I use to practice my grip in the past. Hope it was not the cause of my incorrect grip as it felt a tad too.strong for my liking when I was practicing with it.

It's understandable that the ball that went OB left sticks in your mind, we've all been there before. The out of bounds is the one side we always want to aim away from. Sometimes it's about not about good or bad, sometimes you have to choose between bad or worse, in which case the lesser of two evils wins out. OB or trees right, it's pretty clear which is preferable. Don't let that deter you from learning course and game management, another dimension of the game that can help you on the days that you're not getting the ball to go where you want. Aim to allow for the shot shape of the day, be it push, fade or draw. But if the OB on the left continues to scare you, your best bet might be in a professional swing fix.
