| Hi Guys, noob looking for some advice as below, appreciate it! 1. Does anyone have any recommendation whether to take PC and handicap either at NSRCC or MBGC? location/distance aside as i stay in the east. any pros or cons for either one? i assume MBGC is "under/affliated" MGK as well? seriously confusing when i go through the website. 2. After taking PC, the 5 x 18 holes which i have to clock for handicap must be played at the location i took my PC? or can be any club/course? 3. Is golf insurance compulsory before taking PC/Handicap? or part of the costs when i sign up for PC/handicap test? 4. what are the pros of taking up any form of membership such as MGK? Is it required to play at the courses? pai seh for the silly qns hehe..... | |

| Devil.. Never too dumb to ask.. I'll just share with whatever little i know.. 1. I personally think it boils down to the coach you are learning with and where he is based.. I stay in Holland but mine is at OCC so …. But some prefer mbgc cos there are more chicks there especially in the after office hours.. As for nsrcc I feel they have bigger n nicer changing rooms and the food there aint so expensive.. And of cos, you don't need to pay 60 cents for a cup of tap water at nsrcc cafe as compared to mbgc.. 2. Yes any courses be it in Singapore Malaysia or even Batam…. 3. I believe this would be included in the package with your coach.. So better check with him.. 4. The advantage of signing up with mgk is you get cheaper green fees on Monday and Tuesday, and some discounts when playing at courses like OCC.. I strongly advise not to buy any club membership cos you really don't know how long you will play this game since you have just started…. And I guess most importantly mgk helps you to maintain your handicap which is important especially when playing in other courses.. Have a good golf life ! | |

| Hi devil,
1. PC is usually issued by the coach and only valid in some public courses. Go take Courtesy round (handicap test) directly to play in all golf courses. Handicp test is usually only for members of the clubs as they will issue and maintain your handicap.
2/4. No, you can play at any courses anywhere and submit to the club who maintain your hcp.
3. Suggest you join MBGC or NSRCC(if you wish to), then take their handicap test and maintain with them and finally buy the insurance. Insurance is to protect you for claim by 3rd party should your ball hit someone or you damaged something, or injured yourself during game, Hio and equipment claims will be secondary. It is not part of the PC/hcp test, you have to take up separately.

| one more qns... i am most probably playing alone for the 5 rounds to handicap , i assume courses in SG dont allow that? perhaps courses in JB more relaxed on such rules? or will they pair me up with other noobs? assuming there are any at that time... | |

| Courtesy round means handicap test (used to be called), it can be taken at any course depending on your club where they want it to be held. They will organise monthly courtesy round for most clubs. They will pair you with other beginners and probably with a tester in the flight.
You can take any 5 rounds from any course, usually all golf courses(SG or JB) don't allow single ball. They will pair you with others.

| xredevilx, i'm considering taking a handicap at mbgc as well, and slowly progress to taking the PC.
we can consider doing the 5 rounds of 18 holes or 10 rounds 9 holes together at mbgc during weekdays before 2pm.
but nsrcc executive course is definitely cheaper even for non-safra member like me.

On a side note, dont think the nsrcc executive course can contribute to the 10 x 9 holes right? i know its popular for folks looking to improve their approach game based on feedback in the forum.

| Bro,
just checked with Star Golf Academy @ MBGC.
The cost of the PC is $155.15, inclusive of GST. It is scheduled every alternate Wed (8pm) and Sat (12pm). The theory lesson (30 mins), MCQ (30 qns) and practical (30m, 50m, 100m and 150m) would be conducted in the same session.
I need to practice for my 150m shot yet!
haha 5 ball per distance, and need to hit at least 3 successful shot at the required distance.

Anyway conducting this PC in range? It's a bit of BS, imho. I do agree it's expensive. The other alternative is to sign up a groupon deal, costing 178$ for a 10 hour lesson, inclusive of the issuance of a PC qt the end of the course. http://www.groupon.sg/deals/activities-courses/pro-eighteen-golf/718114946 Do you have any suggestion? I had my PC 2 years ago, but it expired last year.

| Will MBGC allows us to play on the course with just the swing test admission result?
It's only 10$ and is good for a month. Probably do 5 rounds of 18 within 2 - 3 months and go straight to HCP?

| one more qns, if i play overseas, at courses which allow single ball (single person playing), there is no one to countersign my score card.... will this still be accepted by the local clubs when maintaining my handicap?or for submission to get handicap? | |

| am doing my lessons at MBGC and should be done with another 4 - 5 lessons more before getting my PC. Noobs who want to go for a game and don;t mind me shots flyign all over jio me can. Weekdays also can. But I think even with PC need someone with handicap to accopany on the course.
I thought start with 9 holes first will be good. Also need some lao jiao show the ropes on the course. Malaysia or Batam I also game.
