WORLD CUP 2014

With just about one week before the action begins in Brazil,
my surprise team of World Cup 2014 is Belgium.
I predict that they will at least reach the semifinal.

Some of the notable players in the team are:  Simon Mignolet (Liverpool),
Vincent Kompany(Man City), Daniel Van Buyten(Bayern Munich),
Thomas Vermaelen(Asernal), Marouane Fellaini(Man Utd), Eden Hazard(Chelsea), Adnan Januzzaj( Man Utd), Romelu Lukaku( Everton).

Nice thread. Imho Belgium is a good team but they lack international experience, and to reach semi they likely would have to beat Germany/Portugal first and probably Argentina too, so it sounds like a long shot. 

Being Italian, I have no choice but support my own national team (even though this year we don't have a strong squad) but I've always wondered what are Singaporeans favorite teams and why?

2 from south america, 1 africa and 1 from europe in semis. my guess..

It's a pity that your Italian captain, Ricardo Montolivo( AC Milan)
has to miss the world cup due to breaking his leg during the
friendly game with Republic of Ireland just recently.   

Honestly, not so sure if it's a bad news for us   
Of course I'm sorry for his injury but if the coach would finally decide to replace him with Verratti (much better and more complete player than Montolivo), then the whole team could benefit of it. 
But for us it all depends on how our defenders will manage to play, as this year they'll be our weak point (which is kind of unusual for Italy).

Heard from TV news yesterday that pple selling internet streaming device in pc show claiming to be able to watch world cup for free - news said the sales was brisk and popular.

I remember there are also websites  that can view for free .

I do hope the strong-armed tactics of bidding exorbitant amount for broadcasting rights, and then TRANSFERRING the cost to the consumers, fail miserably. Personally, this business strategy will not only make some avoid signing up to any of their packages, it will also tarnish their brand name and make others look for alternatives like internet streaming. In the end, it's not a win win situation at all.

I am one that is not subscribing for the world cup package. Singaporeans pay the highest price in the world, that is stupid.

If only we can unite and not subscribe, then Singapore will be the laughing stock of the whole world. Another 1st - the only country without the World Cup!

d1g@good to know that the Italian team has weak defence. Consequently they will be more attack minded and become an interesting team to watch.

Anyway, I am rooting for 赢个烂 (England). And as usual, I will be surprise if they are still around by Semis.
