| Hi im also planning a trip to Chiang Mai ( to take advantage of golf festival).
Does anyone know a good driver or transportation company? I will need a ride from central area to golf courses for 5 days. Is itbeasy to find taxi there? How much is the normal rate?
cheers | |

| The normal rate for 1 day hire a van with driver is 2400 baht. Plus petrol. Taxi is not real practical here in chiang mai. They don't turn on the meter for you. So price varies.
It is better to organize a hire van. More flexibility for you as well. The hire rate is for the whole day.
If you need help. I can | |

Is it?? Is Thailand relatively safe to go now? As long as don't go Bangkok city centre, I think the rest of Thailand should be ok.

| FWIW, One of my my better experiences of golf in was CM. the courses there were scenic , challenging, and well maintained. Food wise, in thailand, always aroi mak mak (very delicious) i think a better season for CM may be in dec jan or feb when it is much cooler. Cos being quite inland away from the sea, it can be very hot in summer.
Bandung, i hvnt been, but heard it is on higher altitude, much cooler. Definitely a golfing destination to be on the must play list.

| Just back from CM. Played : Chiangmai Highland, Maejo & Alpine: All the course condition are good, green well maintain. Alpine tough rough. After played there back to JB, you can feel much different, today played Tanjong B you can feel ours course like jungle, rough not maintain, green many sand.
Hotel stayed Centara DaungTawan Hotel: Not bad near to night bazaar.
