Hello there,
My gf found her R9 irons too light. Should we see a fitter for this?
I am also considering to buy her irons meant for men but lighter ones.
Hope to have some feedback.
Thank you

Lighter is better, no? Can swing faster and hit further? Is your gf hitting further as compared to yourself for the same loft?
Maybe a bit more explanation would help to get a clearer picture, why your gf found the irons too light.

Thank you for responding!
Doesn't appear so. She tried to swing an entry level (make) 7 iron for men which was lighter than average men's iron and found it to be much better.

Probably due to her swing not stable and consistent enough so a heavier club head aka higher swingweight will let her be more stable in her upswing and helped her stay in her swing plane.
For starters, good that she can tell you her preferences. Imo go with her feel and get a heavier one she preferred instead. But heavier also meant more tired after more swing...
Cheers... enjoy the journey of self discovery ...

My gf also has this tendency, take my 9 iron and hit much better than her own, due to the heavier weight. But after 5 shots, arm tired n then everything haywire. I bought lead tape and put it on her own irons to cure the swing weight problem. Change to a lighter grip too.
My advice is - dun take her see a fitter until she is very sure to want to persevere in this game. Golf can be learnt by yourself to a certain extent and this is also an enjoyable experience..

Yah. Don't see fitter until you have scored abt low 90s (thats my personal guide). Beyond that, likely its the swing that is not stable. See fitter also no use leh.
