Actually it's a misconception that a full round of golf wif the app on will drain the phone batt. I have been using Golf apps for the past 2 yrs and honestly, wif the current crop of smartphones, a round will prob drain maybe 30-40% of batt.

I am using Sony Xperia Z and wif the GPS always tracking my location, a round uses abt 40% of batt. The app tat I use is Mobitee.

Worth to try...

I swear by Golfshot GPS. Don't even bother to use scorecards.

Battery life is subjective. My iPhone 5 has gone thru so many catastrophic drops that when I play a game and tracking my scores via Golf Shot, my battery goes down to sub-20%.

Then again, there are tips and tricks to conserve power. Folks with smartphones that use LTE connection might wanna consider disabling LTE (i.e. just use 3G) for the duration of your game.

LTE, as least for the iPhone, is a battery life sucker.

Yep, can be used in JB cuz it is using GPS and not data. But you have to download the maps (uses data connection) before you go overseas.

I have been using Golf Shot GPS for about 2-3 years already.

So far it is still the best Golf App I have used. ( TourCaddie by USPGA may also be using GolfShot's platform ) When you install TourCaddie, all my scorecards from GolfShot gets imported to Golf Caddie.

I uses my spare iphone 4G, so battery lasted just nice for a game.

The app can let you input each club's distance, favourite layup distance, then track actual/average distance for each shot/club, take a reference picture from tee box, record notes on every single hole. ( Which I haven't use... )

I would say, this is quite a complete software. ( Just don't get distracted by it during a game while starting use it )
