Hi guys,

I am new to golf and considering to attend some beginner lessons to kick the start. Any good academy or coach recommended? Preferably around central area. Currently looking at MBGC. The 10 hour course for a group of 2 cost about 700.

Also, if any one want to join me, you are highly welcomed. I think a group of 2-4 would be nice.

Cheers.

Anybody has recommendations for a coach for 1-1 training? Had attended a full beginner course in a group but still can't swing well. Hoping to find a coach for like a few lessons instead of a full course to correct my swing. Thanks

I also want lessons as the coach I went to at keppel has left any recommendations for someone with simple but good instructions. Do not warn marina bay as you have to take all lessons within a very short time in a package which is no good if you are away a lot

A coach at Lauguna, in the East.
A New Zealander, instructions are easy to understand and most importantly effective.
He will come up if you google "Singapore Golf Services" and also on Facebook.

Allen Kelly is his name.

Thank you I appreciate that, I have played at Laguna but had been told the driving range was closed, so thought they were no longer teaching golf there

He is the head coach and runs a very successful kids' program there. Still coaching at Laguna, you can check your private message for his contact details.

Laguna range no more, but I think Allan Kelly still in Laguna. There's a Jap coach Shinji also previously in Laguna now in TMCC. Not sure is it members only?

@Lizsam, why don't you go NSRCC changi?

Yes, Allen Kelly is still coaching at Laguna and this is coming from a current student.

Lessons are conducted on the course, which I find perfect, what better than to learn on actual conditions. For those who can hit at range but can't seem to bring the performance to the course will know what I mean. The range mat is forgiving.

Bunker shots, putting and so on, which can't really be learnt at the range, is possible with him. I like seeing how the ball reacts on the actual conditions.

I used to have to pay extra for green fees and such to learn on the course.
Now it is part of his lessons, no extra charges from him.

Not for big groups though and very good for one on one lessons.
Nothing is in it for me, I am merely sharing my experience.
He is not the first coach I have but the only one I will recommend.

What works for me might not work for others but I believe learning on the course can benefit everyone.

I am certainly going to try and get in touch after the New Year and see if he can fit me in. I do like to be video as this really makes me see what I am doing wrong. Does he do this?  However if he doesn't it would be a great experience to be taught on an actual couse than a range

Yes he does video and analyzes your swing with you.

He is pretty much involved in my development in this game.
I can send my swings to him for his comments and he keeps track of my scores to see which area of the game needs work on.
He has a way of doing these seamlessly.

How much he is involved depends on how much effort you put in, he charges the same, no extra charge.

Hi Lizsam,

Do have a go with Justin Han at Seletar Country Club.. He is the pioneer Trackman Professional Level 2 Certified Golf Teaching Pro in Singapore. His teaching methodology is simple yet effective. Trackman does not only produces video, it produces statistics as well. More importantly, Justin is able to interpret the data and prescribe drills to improve your game. Do have a look at the beginner golf packages we offer.

Feel free to give me a call at 96981755 or email sam@golfcentral.asia for an non-obligatory discussion. Trial lessons are available as well.

Cheers,
Sam

Thanks Captain Dking for the promo, very kind...  I do conduct lessons still at Laguna.

It is off grass on a real course, we do need daylight and no rain...but the positive is during training we get real driving, fairway, bunker, chipping, pitching practice and we get to play a real golf hole.

The downside is I can't take groups and I don't even try to compete price wise.

I do agree with samleerey though jhan is a great coach with great tools and he would be my choice if you need something more secure weather or time wise..
