| Hi,
What would you do if you lost an iron (say 7i) in the bag?
1. Find a replacement club + shaft. If so, where to find it? 2. Find a replacement club + shaft of a different model. 3. Continue playing with 1 less club. 4. Sell the remaining irons. (Really, would anyone buy a set with missing club?) 5. Others (pl elaborate)
Thanks and look forward to your advice and views. FP

| I don't think I can do without 7 iron.... Did you buy golf insurance? Maybe you can call up the Local AD and check if you can get the list club replaced? | |

| If i were to put myself in the scenario stated, 1) If my set is dated and time for a change, i would opt to take the opportunity to change the whole iron set 2) If the set is relatively new, replacement for the single iron should be available either off the dealer or off the net 3) If the set is old, but i am quite sure i will not be able to find the same feel on a new set. I will source for the whole set in the used market, either at second hand stores or in the online marketplace. The rest of the incomplete set I have with me will be for testing purposes, when I want to try out new shafts and combinations. Or in an event I lose my other single clubs. However, it is weird for one to lose the mid irons. Given that you should be approaching at more than 100m. Unless you are experimenting with it for your green side chips. *which is what I am trying out. | |

| the singaporean way would be to not accept imperfection and buy replacement iron for up to $250 per piece not including shipping.
I may suggest though a more forgiving approach. considering most of our greens in regulations are about 50 percent anyway with a full set of clubs. club up ( use 6 instead of 7) aim for center green all the time . practise more short game chipss and putt from off the green.
funny thing was I played a set mssing 9 iron for a longg time. Didn't affect my play one bit. and even though i didn't get better. I definitely did not play worse.

| i've had this problem for the past year. been playing without an 8-iron (which was my favourite club in the bag) since I lost it at Tanjung Puteri. I use a set of AP2 710s so Titleist couldn't replace the club for me (they are only selling replacement 712s), so the way I dealt with it was to either:
(1) make sure I don't have a 140-145m shot to the green, or (2) play knock-down or chocked down 7 iron shots.
but I've very recently decided to purchase a brand new set of fully fitted Ping i20s to replace my current set so I'm looking forward to hitting those!
As for resale value, I'm not sure if anyone will purchase my set of AP2s without an 8iron, but the rest of the set is gold. haha if anyone is interested and doesn't mind playing without an 8iron, PM me for a very good price!

| Depending on the iron, I'd hunt one down to replace it. If it was a key club like a 7i, I'd be more determined. But if it was a less used iron like a 3i, I'd be less concerned. But I'd still like my iron set to be complete so I'd do what I can to try and find a replacement.
eBay is the place I'd look.

| Choking down on a 6i would be a money saver. I agree. | |

| Thanks everyone for your insights! Good news is, I've found the 7i which was kept by a friend for several days without knowing it.
Anyway, the tips given here will be useful if this unfortunate situation ever happens.
