Tiger Woods VS Rory McIlroy at Mission Hills Haikou

Both Rory and TW were teeing up with 3wood on all the par 4s (except on one of the short par4 where TW was trying to drive the green). They were hitting Driver-Iron on the Par5s. Simply just amazing length, accuracy and consistency off the tee! They make it look like a walk in the park!

Just got back from the match and it was an amazing experience.  Mission Hills Haikou is hands down one of the most impressive facilities I have ever seen.  10 Courses (I got to play two of them), massive spa complex, wave pool, water/beach area...etc. etc....  

Ok so onto the good stuff.  I was covering the event for a local golf publication here in Singapore and was fortunate enough to attend all of the events.  You will have to keep an eye out for Golf Punk and Golf Vacations magazine to get the actual stories, but here are few tidbits.  Once I learn/remember how to upload some photos I will throw some of my personal ones on here.

1. Junior golf clinic.  Tiger and Rory both participated in the golf clinic. It was with the Chinese National Junior team.  Younger kids and they were very good.  Nice golf swings, clearly good players, also some nice golf gear.  What an amazing experience for 10-14 year olds to be able to get some instruction from and meet Tiger and Rory.

2. Shootout.  Guan beat Tiger and Rory by a score of 50 to 30 to 30.  They hit to a target about 90 meters away and had to hit it within some rings.  Guan was pretty sharp and hit the best shots of the bunch.

3. Match.  Tiger was clearly under the weather and not feeling well.  Rory was hitting it past him sometimes 50 yards (Tiger when miked on the live coverage said geez can you hit that thing and further....pretty funny).  Rory looked very sharp (aside from a few small errors) and his golf swing was amazing to see in person.  Both guys were testing a prototype golf ball and Rory was hitting a new covert 2.0 3 wood.  Tiger shot 5 under, Rory shot 6 under.

Gala dinner afterwards was pretty awesome.  Auctioned off signed drivers by both Rory and Tiger.  Tiger's went for about 4 times what Rory's went for.

Both guys flew in on Private Jets the night before and were mobbed by photographers when they arrived.

Crowd control was an issue.  They did pretty well, but no where near where it should have been.  

All in all a great event at a great place.

saw a video on the internet of rory's personal bodyguard/crowd-minder shoving volunteers aside pretty roughly. was the chinese crowd that boisterous??
