| Just back from one of the newest golf heaven in Thailand. Located between BKK and Pattaya (an hr drive) from airport, sitting inside a natural setting of valleys, hills and lakes, it reminds me of Jurassic park. From the clubhouse, you are driven in an open top lorry or oversize pick-up truck into the forest. You arrive at a huge metal gate after 3 mins drive and a caddy jumps down to open the gate (gate similar to the one in the show Jurassic Park). Another 3 mins, we reach the starter's post, mini clubhouse cum cafeteria. Along that 5 minutes ride, you see beautiful natural scenery, beautiful fairways and greens. All the stress before arrival is completely gone and just could not wait to tee off.
In all, there are 3 courses (valley/mountain/forest) for a total of 54 holes . Course condition is excellent and very challenging. Many greens are either island green or surrounded by water. Many almost 90* dog leg par 4 and 5 with tee box located 6-8 storey high up or below green. An excellent golf retreat for anyone looking for one. Hotels and chalets available for booking, if you wish to stay for many games. Played on a thursday which is sports day and paid only 1800 Baht inclusive of buggy and caddy fee.
Comparing to other more well known courses in pattaya, Wangjuntr golf park is definately something different/cheaper/unique/ less crowded and more peaceful. At less than half the price of siam country club and with a more natural setting, and nearer to BKK, it is one of the best place to golf when you are in thailand.
