| rather than digging up information, calling police, calling LTA, checking on who has what rights, it will be better if everyone was more considerate. sometimes, it's not the case of who is right/wrong..... | |

I do not condone the actions of those parking illegally & I'm certainly not barking up the wrong tree. Pray tell, what rights do these owners have over that road other than the right of easement?
This goes to show the ugly side of some; 2 wrongs just don't make 1 right. Those parking illegally are wrong; same goes for the house owners in wheel clamping & claiming the road for themselves. All of us have a part to play in making our soceity a gracious one. +1 I totally agree with you. The point is that the residents think that they own the road which they obviously DON'T. What they should do is to report to the authority for illegal parking and the car owner deserves to be penalised. They do not have the right to take things into their own hands and they should stop telling others that that road is lim peh road. No shame to these residents.

| I quote: "What also complicates the issue here is that the right comes with conditions: the home owners are responsible for maintaining the road unless it is "taken over and maintained by the Public Works Department and the Ministry of the Environment"."
Why should the home owners pay to maintain a road for others to park?

| Have any of you actually read the case details on various online sources?
The police actually told the car owner that the residents indeed own the road and 20 previous cars were wheel-clamped and police is unable to intervene.
Don't take my word for it go read yourself I don't see what is the debate about....

| dunno lah another link said they only clamped 5 cars so far. But that is not the point here http://news.omy.sg/News/Local-News/Look-where-you-park-or-face-paying-a-fee-191872
"The residents contacted the authorities, including the Land Transport Authority, and were told they could "implement traffic schemes that they deem fit". They collectively decided on the $500 wheel-clamp penalty for unauthorised parking. To date, about five car owners have had to pay the release fee."
there are are some earlier post who insinuate that the residents did not consult authorities and take matters into their own hands etc... but it did not appear to be the case lor...
I think it takes 2 hands to clap. When common sense did not prevail, then desparate actions will lead to desparate measures. Let the latest 'victim' go start a lawsuit against the property owners along the road, and we will know the truth...

I actually wasn't referring to your post (and in fact barely glanced at it before posting) but the topic in general...and if you read my post carefully, i said that if LTA has already decided that the residents are allowed to clamp these cars, then what they're doing isn't illegal....so it isn't a case of 2 wrongs making a right either.......
