| Just curious - everyone has a bad game every now and then. When you play with people who are down on their luck and are playing like they should be gardening instead, how do you feel? The more you watch them play, the more painful it gets and the more money you (may) make. What do you do?
1. Encourage, educate and inspire? 2. Enhance trash talk and go for the kill?
I guess the situation changes if everyone seems to be playing well but you are playing exceptionally well. In such situations, they can't fault anyone. So, would it be #2 here?

| first of all, let me admit that I am usually at the receiving end of this...meaning being thrashed especially these 2 Qtrs...
I think I will further categorize this into 2 sub-groups; #1 thrash those that ya-ya-pa-pa-ya....... and #2 normal golfer
For #1, I have to admit, I don feel awful....for I see those ya-ya-pa-pa ya as if want to talk, you need to walk the talk...

| When you are playing well, and therefore thrashing your mates along the way, it is natural.
The next best thing to do is offerign guidance and tips to soften their fristration. Some encouragement helps.

| Ok, so #1 seems like a good route to take and I'm happy to hear that many golfers take it. I'm hardly at the giving end. Like D mentioned, I'm more a recipient than anything else. Oddly enough, I sometimes enjoy the trash talk. I like to know that there's pressure placed on me to fight back. It's helped at times too. Of course, how much trash talk and what talk to use is subjective. Gauge the opponent. On the one hand, you want to encourage him to do well but at the same time, you don't want to patronize him. A fine line... | |

| If S70B is playing well that day, I'll feign a stomach ache and sit at the clubhouse. If S70B is playing badly that day, I'll still need to up my game considerably to challenge him. | |

I've seen the videos and heard the stories. Similarly, I don't need to play with Tiger Woods to know that I'll be beaten blind.
