Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am keen to look at JDM drivers, i.e. EPON, Maruman Majesty and maybe Akira. Anyone here have experience with these drivers? As short as my drive is, i really need a club that can give me extra distance and I don't care about non-conforming or not since I am just a social hacker.

how about the prgr egg?
if u r looking for easy distance, this driver can help
one of the lightest and easiest to get distance driver that ive tried

a little pricey, around 800, but the stock set is ready to bomb most courses...
Just a small warning on PRGR, I don't think they are really made in Japan... For most of the JDM brands, for some anyway, the price premium is really derived from the Japanese manufacture. PRGR is not cheap but yet not necessarily made in Japan...

agreed

i THINK the driver heads are made in china, with a japan made shaft...
if its on this point, then v hard to justify the price
but after u take a hit...i think its good ROI

afterall, even US fighter jets also using china made parts now.. hehe

Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with their clubs. I have two of their current higher end models. Heads made in China and shaft is Vietnam and China respectively even though "made in japan" is engraved on the shafts. I change my own grips and it says made in China and made in Vietnam under the grips...

Sorry to bump up old thread. I've recently built up my JDM bag, and just short of putter now. Unfortunately I know nothing about JDB putters except for Yamada which costs a ton and George Spirits.

Those Epon, Miura, honma don't make good putters?

And where in SG can find JDM putters?

For 2nd hand I guess it'll be the usual hunt like FESC, golfsite,  or even tourspecgolf which has mainly overseas sellers.  For brand new I would recommend Rakuten which is my favourite place .

Cant say about Epon or Romaro, the Ryoma driver is very long and somewhat forgiving for me. I've played with many other drivers, ping, TM, Callaway, but Ryoma is the first JDM driver that I've played. Not sure if I will be tempted to try out other brands since my expectations for JDM driver is so high now haha

I have a normal swing speed so when I changed from TM R1 to Epon AF-151, it was more forgiving and slightly longer off the tee. I had it in my bag for quite awhile (1 year plus) until I itchy backside hoping to gain extra 5-10yards or keep it more on the fairway with other driver/shaft combo.

I feel that JDM Drivers generally have hotter face as compared to the USDM (TM, Cally, etc) due to the better material used as most Asian have slower swing speed as compared to Ang mo who can generate faster swing. JDM are designed to give slow swinger the added distance they need to make their game better.

IMO, JDM holds a better value as compared to USDM.
