I just use a made-in-PRC OEM model used by many taxi uncles.... plug & play, never conceal wiring cos definitely will sink the warranty.....

works for me (i.e. recording starts only on ignition and auto-stop when ignition off since camcorder runs on power source from cigarette socket)

.... bought for less than SGD50/- in JB.... JMHO

Fronz, see that Qoo10 selling the BlackVue rather cheap. DR500 at only less than SGD$300.

I got mine from PRC too at $65 and didn't bother to conceal the wire.

Bro TS, why not check out Autobacs? A lot of the in-car entertainment workshops also carry such camera and can conceal the wire for you.

As for features, depending on what you need. Mine is the type that only records when you start your car. There is another type that records based on motion (good for catching vandalism) even when the engine is off. The 3rd type is round the clock recording. You may also need to consider if you only need the front or both front and back.

I could do that but I wanted a gauge of pricing etc. I tend to get suckered into silly things (like playing snakes with Slinger) so I'm now more careful Smile

I'm also concerned that by hiding the wires etc, my warranty will be impacted Sad

@TS, that is the price you have to pay for driving premium luxury cars. Razz

Better to check with your agent on warranty issue or best if they do install such camera. But my 2cents worth is that if you are just concealing the wiring, it should not be classified as modifications and hence should not violate the warranty terms.

Mine old car, no need to worry about warranty liao.

actually i wanted to install one.... mainly interested for motion sensing and recording during parking.
maybe due to one incident that my car was sprayed with fire extinguisher in an incident that a total of 10+ cars were affected. Police was activated and investigation launched but after 6mths nothing heard.

after searching, most installers recommended a power saver device to go with the camera in order not to drain the car batt. afterwhich i still procrastinating whether to proceed...

You may not need the power saver device. You can install an external powerpack so you do not tap power directly from the car battery.

Downside is, u need to charge the battery manually from time to time. And most prob ugly wiring

Thanks bro for the info!
Bro techno you can consider buying from Qoo10! Since Blackvue is from korea and Qoo10 originates from Gmarket Korea.. should be quite reliable Very Happy
