Advice on Ping putter

Saw promotion from Ping for their "old model" putters. those putters are not the adjustable type. Selling $150 for Blade type and $180 for mallet type. considering buying one.
Any specific model to recommend for the most important club in the bag? or just spend a bit more money to buy a new model? Both can do the fitting by ping..

I hear from friends that since putters are so personal and subjective, the best is to go try it out? Whether new or old model may not matter as long as you like it?
