A serious question....

A mate of mine is running an event here in June, and has asked my advice... this one is beyond my expertise...

The event is to be quite small and cosy.

The guests of honor are 4 Ex Man U legends, (hence my issue I have never watched a soccer game in my life, and have no idea who they are) but apparently they were the best.

The event will have hole in one prizes like $100k cash, trip to Brasil for the Grand Prix, Trip to Old Trafford for the FA Cup final, and one more equally as big but I cant remember.

There will be dinner and Memorabilia auction, as well as pre dinner drinks for autographs and photographs.

The legends will all give a speech.

So my question is.... how much would a person pay for this day?

Just a ball park figure.... When it comes to soccer I am a 36 handicapper, Thanks.

I think your mate should first of all be clear what's the objective of the event. To raise funds for some charity organisations or homes or promotional event for Man U or ??

The amount each would pay would varies.. If its just to meet the players then it all depends on who are they. The best would be people like Cantona, Robson, Giggs or Scholes..

Also the venue of the event, is it gonna be at Serapong or Warren ?

I know I didn't give you a straight answer but these are some of the variables which would determine the costing..

I am both a Man U fan and golfer .

If its not a charity event , the max I would pay is 500. I would like to think that golfers are not irrational "legend", "idol" chasing person . I think the place where the golf is being played at will decided how much I would play. And not the presence of the legends ....

Really need to know which legend. Those grow up watching cantona, ryan giggs, Schmeichel era should be in their mid 30s to 40s. Legends before these era would be rather old and hence their fan base are also older which I feel has less appeal.

A lot more for Cantona and Giggs vs say Hughes and Pallister for eg... So really depends on the number and star quality of the "legends" that are coming. And depending on the course, I would say $300-$800. And maybe $100-$200 more for charity. I would love to attend one for sure!

I am a hardcore United fan for nearly 15 years now and am definitely interested.

It definitely will not be Giggs, Scholes or Cantona, but rather one of the clubs ambassadors..the current ones being Bobby Charlton, Bryan Robson, Denis Law, Gary Neville, Andy Cole, Peter Schmeichel.

Robson was doing it for Asia before and I met him when he was in SG in 2011. My guess is that it will be Robbo, Law & maybe Cole/Schmeichel.

These are rather well known players during their time.
Given the prizes and tons of memories to have, $300-500 shd be ok.

I paid $50 for light refreshment and meet up with a man u legend some time back.
And it was David May..Wasted time and $$

Haha you are right Mal, but if they came we would not golf, just go to the nearest Pub being very careful not to do the Haka in public on the way.....

Well they were indeed good players.

But not in the ranks of Giggs Cantona or even Robson ....

388$ seems like decent price. That's if it's not at nsrcc or warren.

The haka was done in Orchard to celebrate the opening of a new Kiwi restaurant... but no one informed the police first so they all got busted!!!!!

I just checked my first post and it says the event is in June. The FA cup final is in May according to the Budwiser ad right beside me... So I am guessing it must be 2014.

Ohh maybe they changed the venue to the theatre of dreams
