Every ball u hit it's one stroke, you wanna hit 170 strokes on the course?

Just picked up the game very late last year and I've been working at it myself (cant afford lessons) with some help from friends. Have to hit more to understand where I'm going wrong and consciously make changes until my muscles/brain get used to it so naturally will hit more. I've seen progress and now when I hit well, I will hit a few more shots with the club to make sure I rmb how it feels and that the good shot was not a fluke. Probably gonna make changes to my range routine soon to simulate course play.

| Always believe in Practive make perfect! It does matter how many balls you practice on driving range, take it as exercise and keep fit! | |

"you don't play golf to get fit... u get fit to play golf" Very true.....take on JGCC if you think you are fit enough. @ Zhikang, nothing wrong with hitting so much balls, I know Vijay Singh hit 1000 balls in the range before he go PGA. But I believe, whenever in range, you should at least try various clubs like short, mid and long irons, hybrid, fw and driver to get a rough idea of what's your distance and also how well you can handle it. I seen people go to range hit driver non stop but not practicing on other clubs. IMHO, that's a waste of balls.

Maybe the guy whom you saw in the range was merely running in his new driver ...

| I would advise against overdoing at the range. I normally limit myself to hitting not more than 100 balls at a stretch. For beginners, all the more the need to guard against excesses cause they tend to hit the mat more often resulting in painful golf or tennis elbows! You cannot enjoy your golf if you develop these pains. | |

No point hitting balls for the sake of hitting balls, unless that is the whole purpose. Personally, I advocate focusing on one-two area of the game at every practice session. Just like those intermediate/advance lessons. They always focus on one aspect of the game (the woods, long irons, short irons, chipping/pitching and putting) for that 1hour lesson. Of course, warmup is always with the wedge.
