| 2nd that... It doesn't have to be 24 hours. But I always hope the range can open until 1 - 2am because very often I work late and leave office at 8pm. | |

| As a golfer , YES I'd love the idea, but as the operator.. NO.. High operating cost. Extend the hours to midnite over the weekend suffice... | |

| I think the cost will be like electricity, whereas the counter can be like machine top up for the range cards..hopefully there is extended hours till like 3am ...snooker billiard bowling all got but our golf Bo leh so hopefully those towkay can look into this..I'm sure there is demand as night time is more cooling to practice and ppl like me itch at night sure go..maybe can test out for a month to see response etc... | |

| I am sure there will be some Owl golfers who like myself will support a way past midnight or 24hrs operating range! Do hope a range operator is on this tread and start the ball rolling for it to happen and be know as the first in Sg 24hrs range | |

| The driving range operators should consider installing solar panels to power their lights at night thereby saving electricity costs. 24hr ranges will then become possible. | |

| The question is whether there are golfers willing to pay $35-$40 for 100 balls (conservative estimate) to make financial sense for the driving range operators to cover the additional electricity cost of lighting (floodlights).
Even with solar panels (and batteries), depreciation of the investment over the normal lease accorded to a golf driving range does not make any financial sense given the energy requirements of floodlights. The operator would still have to charge a premium.
Alternatively, if the driving range were to operate without the floodlihgts, would golfers be willing to pay to hit into a dark, unlit area where you can't see the ball fly?
I am guessing the answer is no to both the above questions.
Perhaps the next best alternative is to buy a whole bunch of luminous golf balls, a portable battery operated lamp, and head to an exec course that can be easily accessed at night (e.g. Tanglin).
p.s. Try the above at your own risk ... personally I think waking up early and heading to the driving range before work might be more practical

Solar panel? Nah... The installation and maintenance cost vs the return is not favorable . If the cost pass to golfers , they'll have to pay extra, they stop coming, the solar investment return cost have not breakeven, white elephant leow....LPPL...

| There's a field just opposite my place where good enough for 250m but problem is that u have to bring your own golf balls. Buy those like 4 for $1. $20 can get u 80 balls. But note. Do at your own risk. | |

| operating until late at night will definitely occur higher costs for the management. so if they charge double, would you guys still go there? | |

| hmmm how about an indoor place that lets us practise our chipping and putting? that might be more viable than a full fledged driving range and still can quench our thirst when we are thirsty heh heh.... | |

You've got a point there. I doubt not many people would be golfing at that time... So let me just ask, (I'm a very new golfer) where is the latest range that you have golfed at?
