| Had a golf game last week and thought I'd share with you some of the things I learnt if your SG car breaks down in JB (or most major cities in Malaysia).
1. You can get your car towed back to Singapore but in the middle of the causeway. AAS or a SG towing company can take over from there (transfer your car over to their tow truck).
2. You do need to pay a Malaysian Customs levy of about RM250 even though it's your own car. Apparently, it's for the tow truck to get out of Malaysia. AAS says it's RM300 but I only paid RM250.
3. If you are a AAS member, lucky you cos you only pay RM300 (or RM250).
4. If you are not, you must pay the Malaysian tow truck plus Singapore tow truck. From JB side, it cost me RM500 with the RM250 levy. They got me by my balls so no choice. But it should be about RM150 they say for towing within the city. Mine was at Ponderosa which is only 15 min away to the causeway.
5. Singapore tow trucks- I don't know how much it cost. My insurer covered all 'local' towing including from causeway. They used AAS. When I called AAS (I'm not a member), they say it's S$238 or something for towing.
6. So if you do drive up, please consider your options and emergency plans should your car breaks down.
7. After that, I'm signing up with AAS who confirmed with me today verbally, that even if my car breaks down in any of their freezones (mostly major cities), they will tow my car back to the causeway for free (except still must pay the levy) even as far as Penang. Hope this is true.
Happy golfing and safe driving with no breakdowns!

| Towing from Singapore side is free if your car is insured with company like Chartis ... Thanks for the useful post anyway ... | |

| Broke down once in legend. Luckily called my car mechanic in Malaysia (near to palm villa) to send for tow truck to his workshop. Change clutch plus tow fee. Cost $700 total and 1 day downtime. Problem is transport back to sin and collection of vehicle after repair. | |

| Glad you all like it.
I'm now in Kuching but it's been raining. Hope it will dry up the next couple days. If not, waste the money and efforts bringing the golf sets here.
Please pray for me so I can submit some field reports. | |
