Poll - Most worthy & valuable Golf Course in Johor on Saturdays

Trying to plan a trip down (FINALLY)

Been doing some research but nonetheless advice and feedback from veterans like you all would be much trustworthy.

Hence want to ask , how to we get the best rates and the most convenient tee time for a Saturday morning in Johor?

Any promotions or best value? Recommendations or even contacts would be appreciated

Anyone one tried Bukit Bannag? or KUP KUP?

JGCC will definitely get my vote for this....cheap, challenging and near.

I tried kukup once. Played 2 x 18.
it's very cheap (Forgot how much) but toooooo far.
A simple & flat course.. Quite empty as well.

For me, not so worthwhile travelling that far. Cos i like quickie. Hehe.
I rather go Daiman for the shorter travelling & it is empty as well.
If i wana piss myself off & quit golf, I would go austinhill. Hehe.
Other than these few courses, the rests are more expensive..

For Saturday morning golf, Daiman 18 gets my vote. Cheap and don't have to do booking. First come first serve.

Trust me to, jgcc is one place you really want to have a caddie.

Why i like JGCC (RJCC)?
- its nearest to SG (unless u stay in west, then probably Poresia is the nearest)
- cheapest? or should i say most affordable!
- experience walking course like pro

Why not?
- beware of the caddy (a lot of story but luckily yet happen to me)
- lack of maintenance (go only on dry sunny day)
- rundown locker and shower

It is since now they include breakfast. Not great breakfast but good enough

I like this reason. Only if you are fit enough.

Last 2 reasons,couldn't agree more

Anyway to side track a bit, JGCC used to be the ground for Johor Open before they shifted to Horizon Hills. Also if you ask any Johorian, in the past maybe in the 70s and 80s you cannot played this course unless you got some royal connection.

I joined JGCC in 1986. Required a member to introduce and another to second my application before I could be considered for membership. This practice is still ongoing. Have not heard abt requiring royal connection though I understand civil servants of Johor state were given preference to be members at a very special low price. The late Sultan was a very keen golfer and was often was on the course in the morning as well as in the afternoon. Everybody put on their best behaviour then...divots were filled and bunkers raked. But sadly, now that the royalty seldom plays there, maintenance has declined somewhat. The club needs improvement and I understand the current "poor" state was the reason why the "Royal" was withdrawn. But I am certain it will be reinstated in time. Hear there's renovation plans in the pipeline. Its a very challenging course and I noted my scores at MBGC have always been better than what I can score at JGCC. I still enjoy playing here and I love the walking amongst all the matured trees.

orchard is a fairly easy course and not very challenging... the locker room is also abit rundown.. its not as near as well but at least its not that expensive...

I am going to try orchard this Saturday. Hopefully it's a good experience. Will feedback after the game.
