Well, rules are rules, high leg challenge is a sending off offence. The problem is, Nani didn't notice Arbeloa was charging in for the ball too. It can be one or another. Utd start to press panic button and RM up their tempo. Jose mOurinho made a good tactical chance to conquer the midfield with the introduction of Modric. And Modric have that skill to hit the ball from outside the box.And the old boy CR7 did score a superb goal considering his away from the goal mouth and sliding in towards the goal at a tight angle show how skillfull he is . Kudos to both team as Utd manage to silence RM for the 1st half but fail to settle down after nani dismissal. All the best to RM

Look at the replay... You can see Nani trying to trap the ball with his eyes on the ball... On the contrary, the RM player wasn't playing the ball.. If he was, he would be either using his legs or head, what was he doing jumping up in that awkward position? Trying to use his chest to block the ball?

All said, referee decision is final...

yes correct. high leg challenge is considered very dangerous challenge, whether it is deliberate or not. so sending off is the correct decision.

problem is.

It isn't a challenge.
He was taking the ball down with his feet. So Red is very harsh.

But without video tech. Its hard for the referee to see the details.
