Golf Courses & Resorts in Hainan Island

Hi GRians,

I'm planning a trip to Hainan Island in early June and would appreciate recommendation for tour agent contacts, resorts for accommodation and courses to play.

Look for Martin Zhao at freedomhainan ... reliable guy, fellow golfer and also MGK member (but physically based in Hainan). Knows how to cater to all variations of golfing itineraries.

Contacted Martin to organize some golf games for my trip this coming Dec and he was really helpful in terms of suggesting accommodations and golf course recommendations.

I will be in Hainan from 8th - 15th Dec... if anyone happens to be there.. can contact me to meet up for a golf game. Night drinking is also very much welcome..   

 Will send pictures of the courses there when I am back!

Courses not confirmed yet.. but I should be playing 4 games.. and Mission Hills Blackstone Course should be high on the priority list..

Just got back from Mission Hills Haikou after covering the Tiger v. Rory match.  The place is amazing, 10 courses to choose from, hotel is very nice.  Played two there, Sandbelt and Stepping Stone.  Both were in amazing shape and a blast to play.  Blackstone or Lava appear to be the two most desirable courses there.

Going coming 17th - 22nd Jan to Hainan for golf!

Weather should be nice i think.

Besides golfing, whats there that we should do in hainan island? Example like massages? Are they good, like in mainland china? Gog there soon and any info is appreciated.

That is so awesome! We remember seeing some promotional videos for Mission Hills Haikou and it looks AMAZING. Hopefully, we'll make our way there one day to play--it all looks five star!!

BEAUTIFUL BAY GOLF CLUB - Haikou
In my opinion one of the more challenging and nicer golf course in Haikou. Condition is EXCELLENT.. with cooling weather... one cannot ask for more.

WEST COAST GOLF CLUB - Haikou
Very flat, wide fairways throughout. Not much hazards, very ideal if you just want a round of stress free and leisure golf.

SUN VALLEY GOLF CLUB - Sanya
Pretty scenic golf course considering plenty of mountain views... as the name implies.. Valley mah. So the whole golf course is actually situated in a valley. Plenty of water.. mountain.. a couple of blind holes. A the signature hole.. probably the only PAR 6 hole in China... f**king long hole... took me a while to get it over and done with..  

YALONG BAY GOLG CLUB - Sanya
This one is just next to the stretch of 5 Stars Hotel Chain in Yalong Bay. Excellent location and very convenient if you are staying nearby. Got a good mix of difficult and easy holes but quite flat overall.

@alvin7379 wow!!! those are some awesome photos!! how much were the green fees for those courses? conditions and weather looked great for golf.... they really like having palm trees in the middle of the fairways over there i guess? haha.... the par 6 hole looks fun, SO long! birdie????

haha.. bro.. the green fees are between RMB1000 - 1300 (excluding tips for caddie RMB150 - 200). 2-Way transport will cost between RMB 80-300 depending on the distance of the course.

And yes... weather is fantastic... though with buggy... golfers practically walk throughout and let the caddie do the running up and down from the buggy track. Did not even break a sweat after walking 18 holes!

As for the PAR 6.... all I can say is... its quite a long and painful experience...     

p.s. These photos dun do justice to the actual courses... the view is just breath taking... no course in Singapore is even close. Condition of their turf all machiam Sentosa... no shit!
