| Hi all,
Pardon me if I sounded silly. Do you guys wear your golf shoes direct when u reach the carpark at the range/course..........or only change to it when u reach the grass? Will it damage the spike?

| Golf spikes wear out eventually over time, you can purchase aftermarket replacement spikes from any golf shop.
If you really want to extend the life of your golf spikes, then I would suggest that you do not use them at the driving range. I.e use an old pair of worn out golf shoes or perhaps AstroTurf football shoes

| Used to wear my FJ shoes on my casual Fridays to work.. with rubber spikes all. Very confortable.. shoe sole last damn long. Just need to change spikes when they wear out (not that frequent anyway). | |

| I don't care too much to be honest. I've worn them in the morning before the game and even when we stop for breakfast, I've got my golf shoes on. They are less obvious now. The older shoes used to have that silly looking flap which covered the laces. These days, golf shoes look like regular sneakers. If you want to maintain the spikes, then obviously don't wear them until you are actually going to play but you'd soon realize that the spikes are pretty hardy and even when they do wear out, getting replacements spikes isn't difficult. Soon, you won't care too much either | |

| By the way, how do we change the spikes? I tried to remove mine but cannot. Screwed in too tightly already. | |

I've had that problem before. If the stud can't come off, it's not because it's screwed on too tightly. Rather, I suspect that there's sand etc. caught inside which has made it difficult to unscrew the stud. What I've done is to take it to the shoe spray section in the coure and give it a good spray. Hit it a few times to help dislodge the sand and hopefully, it'll loosen up the stud itself. Whatever happens, be careful not to pry the stud off the screw itself. Once you do so, you'll find it difficult if not impossible to remove the screw altogether and you can't replace it thereafter.

Thanks bro. I tried to remove the spikes when the shoes are still new, so cannot be due to sand. Are there any screw or tool to help loosen the spikes?

| you'd be surprised how much dirt gets stuck into the spikes.. i had the same issue as you, can't remove spikes, took a lot of WD40 and a lot of time and sweat before i finally managed to remove them... its prob a good idea to unscrew them every now and then to clean out the dirt within, since they last a pretty long time... | |

| Yeah, there are golf shoe stud wrenches which you can get. Note that they differ depending on the type of studs you have. An example of what the wrench looks like is below. I'm curious - how have you been trying to remove the stud if you didn't have a wrench? | |

Woah.. that's unnecessary and likely completely ineffective.

I got my shoes from the golf section in Taka. Maybe I'll drop by some day to ask whether they forgot to give me the wrench.
