Synopsis:
Golf is a physically demanding, mentally challenging sport that requires technical precision. Just like any any other sport, golf has its own set of peculiar pitfalls that can risk injury. This forum addresses the physical problems that can be brought about by a round of golf or just a few swings at the driving range, and discusses how these injuries can be treated and managed.
Programme:
9.30am Registration

10.00am Welcome Address

10.05am Common Causes of Golf Injuries
- What Went Wrong, What's Causing The Pain, And How Can You Fix It?
Executing the perfect swing requires a well-timed chain of events to transfer the force generated from the legs, to the hips, trunk, down the arms and the club to send the ball flying. A weak link in this "chain" result in injury. Find out how these individual links can fail through injury, and what can restore the weakest link to working condition.

Getting Fit for Golf
- Exercises To Prepare Your Body For Golf And Strengthen Your Golf Muscles To Prevent Injury
A good pain-free swing requires you to have good posture, flexibility and strength. At times, our body can get weaker and stiffer as we age. This affects performance and causes injuries. Specific golf rehabilitation and conditioning exercises can help to alleviate the aches and pains, and prolong pain-free golf on the course.

Senior Sports Physiotherapist

10.45am Understanding Golf Mechanics
- Errors In The Golf Swing Technique And Addressing Golf Injuries At Their Origin
- Postural Awareness And Developing A Biomechanically Sound Swing Technique
Getting fit for golf alone does not prevent golfers from injury as the source of the injury may result from poor swing mechanics. A golfer needs to combine a golf-specific fitness programme with a biomechanically-efficient swing technique to prolong an injury-free golfing lifespan. An understanding of how our body and golf swing work is crucial for a long-term enjoyment of the game.
