Mizuno Owners Thread - Soft and Buttery

Apparently one needs to buy from else where (USA or online retailers) if he/she is keen to shaft the Mizuno irons with aftermarket shafts other than those stocked by Golf House. Golf House stock shafts are either NS Pro, Proj X or DG ... Unfortunately this is the limitation of Mizuno in Sg ... If I am not wrong, GH does not stock Mizuno irons with ProjX anymore.

I bought my MP69 irons from a local parallel importer at a few hundred dollars lower than Golf House's price, and the good thing was, I've the option to shaft the irons of my choice (i.e. KBS Tour) ...  

It would be ideal if Mizuno is able to tie up with a local qualified Fitter to offer fitting to Mizuno fans like what BFG to Callaway clubs and let GH continue to sell the clubs with stock shaft off the shelf ... I can see Mizuno is losing market share big time locally if they continue to sell what they could offer thru Golf House and Not Selling what the market demands ...

Titleist on the other hand is quite successful in this aspect ... Acushnet allows shaft option for their irons but subject to about $10-15 (steel shaft) up charge for each iron.

@hiryu, if you want you can place a request to be fitted by our in house Mizuno Fitter, or myself.

@Turbo, Golf house does still order project x shafts, however only until 5.5. Usually these irons are in small quantities due to the premium shaft option. Good on you, as long as you believe in the brand there is hope. We understand your concerns and hopefully in time we might have our own assembly line to cater to your needs.

It's too late for me as I already got my irons in Apr last year.
I do wish to clarify though, are we looking at other possible shafts besides the usual for fitting? Or still only the standard ones we see in GH?

For the fitting and demo at NSRCC, same question as well? Because I will tell my FIL to make a trip there if there are more shafts available.

Is there a ladies version jpx850 forged?

No I am sorry there isn't, there is only a cast version, however you can fit a ladies flex onto the forged one, hope this helps!

What is stacy lewis using at the moment?

You can test at NSRCC. Mizuno has a fitting shop there ...

if you wish to try the irons, please keep a lookout for the next demo day.
Golf house paragon has the best facility as they have trackman, look for Max and he will do the fitting for you.

Hmm not much personal input from him, pretty much just let me try the shafts that Mizuno Shaft Optimiser suggested for me after the data was collected from my 3 swings with a 6 iron. I had an issue with a low trajectory ball flight which was probably my swing than anything, which he pointed out that I should aim for a steeper descent angle, or possibly a shaft that flights higher to achieve the same.

In the end, the software suggested C-Taper for me, which was weird since I already have a naturally Low ball flight.

Milkem@ For iron swing, he is right ... Descending angle of attack ... For 6i, -1.5 to -2 deg is ideal. Anything more will create too much divot and one will lose distance.

I think you may have misunderstood what I meant, I was referring to the angle which the ball drops from the air onto the ground (descend angle), not the angle of attack on the downswing. 

I naturally hit a lower ball flight, which results in a descend angle which is shallower, ie. ball rolls out more after landing. He was saying that I should be aiming to a steeper descend angle, which basically means I should be hitting the ball higher in the air (higher peak height) in order for the ball to drop more steeply. Which I found to be a little contradictory when the software suggested a C-Taper shaft for me as first choice, considering it's a low trajectory shaft.

What I meant was, for iron short, if u hit down on the ball, it will create spin and as a result generate high ball trajectory. This is good for iron approach shot which needs a soft landing on the green. If one fails to hit down on the ball to create a divot after the ball, it is likely that he "thins" the shot and ball flight will not be ideally high. However there are golfers who intentionally wanna penetrating ball flight by placing the ball slightly further back and/or dynamically delofting the club on impact.

These softwares may not been 100% foolproof and may have bugs here and there. After all these are developed by human beings. Scientific softwares like Trackman, Flightscope, etc. are good to have to aid in the selection of shafts, clubs, etc. but human expertise and touch are still needed to optimize the fitting process. In other words, one cannot follow blindly what these softwares indicated.

So did you stick with C-taper? From your WITB, your shaft NSPRO modus is a low launching and very similar to the C-taper.

The software is a recommendation on five factors, mainly club head speed (weight of shaft),
swing tempo,toe down,kick angle (bend profile), release factor(lag). (all shaft specs).
basically if you were recommended KBS shaft, you would have had a good swing tempo, with a decent lag and bend profile.

What the device does is recommend the shaft profile for you. ball flight/spin rates will be tested based on shaft profile, eg if you wanted a higher ball flight you would need a softer mid section, lower spin, you would need a stiffer tip section, etc.
