I used to have MP (52 and 57) series irons. When my ball striking is off, it is really punishing on the golf course.
Someone told me that what you put in your score card is a number, not whether you use player's clubs (MP series) or Game improvement clubs (JPX series). I've since ditched the MP irons and I'm gaming JPX 800 irons and I cannot be happier, scored my personal best (83) lately (not all down to the clubs of course, coaching helps!) - my hcp is 15.6
My current Mizuno driver is MP 650, which you see on the Marketplace! The MP 650 is slightly open at address, deep face, helps avoid the left side of the fairway (for hookers, I used to be one!)
I used to have the JPX 800 driver but it launched too high for my liking and I have the tendency to pull hook it (my swing). Recently got my swing sorted and I don't hook anymore. Anyway, the JPX Driver was also sold earlier.
As the U2 song goes, "I still haven't found, what I'm looking for..." the elusive Mizuno driver that suits my game. I get better results off the tee with my RBZ Tour 9* with Fubuki shaft at the moment
Hope the above helps. Anyway, here is some pics of my Mizuno clubs. I'm not gaming the MP 650 driver anymore, just for taking pictures here!
Driver - MP 650 9.5* with stock Fujikura Orrochi Shaft 3 & 5 Wood - JPX 800 with stock Exsar shaft Hybrids - JPX Fli Hi (will be changing to JPX 800 hybrid) Irons - JPX 800 HD with Aerotech SteelFiber i95 Wedges - MPT 11 with DG Spinner shafts Bag - Mizuno Cart Bag Balls - yes, I use Mizuno Balls too! Umbrella - guess what? yes, a Mizuno brolly! hahahah
All i have is the same golfbag as yours, 47deg wedge and the Mp 650 driver which i am struggling with, pretty new cos i bought it in golf house sale recently. So, Mp is not the way to go for me then. Not sure about Miuras, they are in the same category, buttery feel...? Forgiveness?

But if you must compare, I feel that Miura should be more comparable to the MP series, albeit a tad pricier I don't think Miura makes super game improvement irons like the JPX series. So if you think MP series may be too much club for you, then Miuras are probably not for now. I think it depends on what rocks your world, mate. People tend to associate Miura to the master craftsman who hones his skills over the years forging the irons, like one who forge samurai swords in the days of Shogun. Both Miura and Mizuno MP series are good irons. But are Miura that much more softer (if the buying decision is down to how soft the irons feel) to justify the price tag compare to MP series? I don't buy that. Of course Miura enthusiasts will argue other ways. Clear as mud now?

| I've hit Miuras before and I think they feel nice. But Mizunos feel just as nice. If you ask me, Miuras are like Mercs. They drive well. Mizunos are like Lexuses. They also drive well. But there's a slight difference - likely in perception but overall, they are great clubs. I've owned 3 sets of Mizunos and loved them all. I know that I don't play well enough to get the buttery feeling all the time but when I hit a good shot, the feedback is amazing. I'm now trying the Adams CB3s which are also forged and they are sweet! Sorry for the shameless plug on the Mizuno thread | |

| Sorry to intrude. Currently not a Mizuno irons user but using Mizuno MP-R Wedges. Looking at the list, there's quite a number using MX25s. Are they forged and forgiving? Are they recommended for high to mid handicappers? Thinking of changing to MX25s once I'm heeled. | |

Just curious, with your hcp, why didn't you consider the JPX 800 Pro - the forge model?

Never hear of forged and forgiving going hand in hand. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

| This information I got from WWW.Golfreview.com......
"Description:- With the MX-25TM iron, the Mizuno Product Development team took on the task of greatly improving upon the MX-23TM, Mizuno's #1 selling iron of all time. This feat was achieved by utilizing the new Grain Flow Forged® 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel and engineering a wide, deeper, and longer H.E.M.I COGTM Pocket Cavity for the lowest and deepest COG in a one piece forged iron. The MX-25TM iron delivers a massive sweet area along with the new three dimensional "X" Back cavity pad for maximum forgiveness on off-center hits and increased solid feel. No other iron can offer this game improvement technology while maintaining the solid, soft feel that comes only from a Mizuno Grain Flow Forged® Iron. "

Just curious, with your hcp, why didn't you consider the JPX 800 Pro - the forge model? I don't use 4 and 5 irons, will be a waste if I gone for jpx pro Anyway the jpx HD was a used set, came with 4 and 5 hybrid then 6-PW. Ideal for my needs Honestly they feel great when struck well too. Gets the job done :-)

Never hear of forged and forgiving going hand in hand. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Yah..., anyone pls do advise........ Forged is a method of making iron heads- typically simpler design because in theory, it takes a block of metal, soften it under heat and mallet it into shape Forgiveness is design of iron heads - typically characterised by deep cavity with fanciful insert, some are even infused with titanium face, blah blah. Usually quite elaborate, lots of technology to help the golfer get the ball up and far --> super game improvement cavity back irons are typically cast (not forged) as a result of the more elaborate design. I think some forged irons can still be somewhat forgiving as long as you steer clear of muscle back blade types Sorry forgiveness is relative... In theory forged and forgiving still possible eg bfg irons

I am like Bro PA, I was all Mizuno's, until poisoned by the Titleist 913. I still have 3 Mizuno drivers collecting dust and hanging laundry. I think MX 25 was and is a great set. It was forgiving and you can still shape shots. It is not ultra thick as most game improvement irons are. If I didn't need to upgrade my shafts, I would still be using this. In fact it is my spare/traveling set in SG.

| Thanks pocketace for the good and concise information. Indeed with modern advancement in materials, manufacturing processes and design it's worthwhile to re-think the correlation between forged and forgiveness. | |

Never hear of forged and forgiving going hand in hand. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Of course you can have forged and forgiving in a club. Some good examples: 1. Mizuno MX-200 & MX-300 2. JPX 800 Pros & JPX 825 Pros 3. Adams CB3s 4. BFG CB-003s 5. Srixon I-701 To name a few... ... of course, forgiveness is subjective. But I'd say that these are generally GI-type'ish clubs.

Agreed that while forgiveness is subjective to different players, GI typish is a pretty good description of what one can expect of the equipment.

| Hi Bros,
I'm currently using MX200 for irons.
Trying to set up a mizuno set. Any recommendations on Mizuno drivers, woods and hybrids?
For drivers, I have played TM RBZ, TM Burner TP and Adams F12, all on global stock regular. For woods, I only play with Maruman Shuttle i4000x (not very good with woods). For hybrids, I like Callaway FTiz, used RBZ, Adams V3, all on global stock regular.
