Tiger tees up, pulls the driver back, and a loud clacking rat-tat-tat explodes next to my ear. Tiger checks his swing abruptly and glares at my direction. It was a prematurely fired SLR by a photographer standing beside me.
We were more than 50m away, but the camera was really loud.
Tiger tees up again, and this time fires without any further incident. The photographer withheld his fire until after impact.
Turn up the volume in this video to get the full effect.

In order to get a DTL shot of Tiger, I had to skip a few holes ahead of the throng and park myself behind the tee box of hole 6, par 4 339m.
After patiently wilting in the sun for quite a while, the wait finally paid off. I can't possibly get any closer to get a better DTL view than this.

No problem. Here's more.
After an initial camera disturbance, the burly bodyguard glared at the crowd behind Tiger at hole 8. Absolutely no chance to get a DTL view.
Luckily for me, I was more than 200 meters further ahead, getting a FO view, with the zoom setting in my Canon set to the absolute max.
Check out the size of the migrating crowd too.
