| Spent money on beginners' lessons (~$400) Spent money on beginners' golf set (~$100) Lay off for a few years Spent money on beginners' lessons again (~$400) Spent money on newer but used 2007-2008 versions of golf clubs (~$1000) Need to collect scorecards for HCP Spent money on proper golf apparels (~$200) Spent money on golf accessories, including used balls, used golf cart (~$100) Spent money to play golf at golf course (3 games ~$350) Find out that I still suck at the game Need to spend money on coach (~$700) Need to spend money to play more golf at golf course (another 3 games ~$350)
And I'm still at my first step.
But golf is satisfying... sweeping the ball off the mat, seeing your drive go damn straight and then cant see the ball anymore, getting the ball out of bunker on 1 attempt, seeing your chip land within 3m of the pin... the feeling damn nice
My standard of play = I'm very happy getting double-bogeys all the way (<110)

| I try to cut down my golf expenses:
1. Cut down on range time
2. Make sure I use the same ball for every game or at least 4 games
3. I use less than 14 clubs coz that will minimize petrol cost as bag is lighter
4. I use lighther shaft for same reason as #3
5. I learnt golf thru the PGA tour coaches....but thru Golf channel
6. I play less than 18 games a year to maintain my GR PGA card
hope this will help you in cutting cost

| i borrowed my friend's spare set when i first start playing. it didnt cost me a dime. i don't find any coach or take any lesson, i self correct in the game. but i spent quite a lot in a good set that can last me a few years. apparel wise, anything as long as i'm comfortable wearing it, doesnt have to be fanciful. i play once a week. sometimes if got extra time, twice a week. the only thing that set me back is the caddy tips | |

Bro, you must be a really good golfer (single handicapper). Can use same ball for 4 games. I every game also lose balls so cannot save money that way.

Anyway, I don't think the ball is making much difference to my game. Lost or drop in water, not heart pain at all

| To play golf one must have: Start with a beginner set $250 Golf shirts $75 golf pants $90 hand stocking $30 Golf gloves $17 Golf shoes $120
A dozen of golf balls $15 (cheap one made by wilson)
Then pay a hefty green fee $90 Golf cart $15
Total to play golf for the 1st time about $700 .
Start getting more expensive when we get custom fitting, buy golf clubs + pricey shafts
That's how expensive golf is.
