| Just got this iron titleist 591, but only thing i can find on the net is this =) (When Tiger Woods was playing Titleist, the company called on Miura to make limited edition irons. Titleist brought its own dies and designs; Miura’s contribution was his 14 step manufacturing process. Thus the Titleist 591 was born. I don think you'll ever find a set though. In 2003 there was a special run of Titleist Japan-only Irons made by Miura that featured Tigers MP-14 like grind. 500 of these sets were made and sold for 5000.00 in a cherry wood box with a letter of authenticity from titleist and an actual signed picture of tiger. This was the only time they sold his exact grind irons forged by Miura.) Not sure how true is this so hope someone can input Thanks... | |

| Sorry no info but Wow! Really a nice looking clean cut set... But jus wondering if Tiger would use a perimeter weighted set? Or just a mktg gimmick for the expensive set.... | |

| I read on some other forums that it "felt" a little hard compared to most muira forgings. Not sure why, but if this is any comfort, I had a set of older titleist tour issued irons and they were rather hard feeling and my only thought is the balls were different than they are today with respect to feel, especially the premium ones. So clubs could be a little harder as the premium balls felt softer to me back then.
If you were to put out this club today and played say a pro v 1x....I am sure it would feel different than if you were playing the top tier ball in 2000. Maybe that is the reason...not sure just a hypothesis.

| Yes it is...Have you seen Caddyshack? If so you would know what it is. If you have not then you would have no idea.
In case you have not...That is Al Czervic (Rodney Dangerfield) and he is a multi millionaire in the movie. He has all the gadgets and gizmos. He uses this putter in the movie and said that his friend from NASA designed it for him and sinks some absurd putt because of the technology. He basically looks through the scope and when it goes green he hits the putt and then it goes it. The guy's they are playing with say "that takes some of the fun out of it". Pretty classic stuff for the time.

Wonder what ball was used 12 years back, maybe get some to try heehee!!
DRGJr72 can I also know y the loft is so different from todays iron, like the P 47, 9i 43, 8i 39, 7i 35.... What I want to ask is there any particular reason? Thanks

| Quick answer. Distance was not the end all be all until a few years ago. Marketers have seen how people react to distance gains and have made that a priority with their products.
While people liked to hit it far, they were not bombarded with sales advertising speaking of such. Now it is par for the course. It is all about how far you can hit, unfortunately not how close you can.
Some PW are close to 43-45 today. That is partly due to technology where they can figure out the bounce issue that would occur from straight delofting of irons for new distance gains. By figuring this out they can lower the loft without affecting playability. By doing this they open the opportunity to offer a gap wedge for the set. So by eliminating the 3 iron, they can make it up via the gap wedge. I acutally don't have an issue with this. How many 20 or 15 handicaps hit a 3 iron flush often? Not many. Having more wedges is a sound idea, and if you can hit more lower irons into the green that is a benefit. So the idea is sound although the message is all about distance and hitting it further.
I would be more concerned about hitting it closer.....
