Didn't your ancestors came from somewhere before? The true indigenous folks here are the Malays.

Seriously, have you nothing better to do on this Tuesday morning? No golf balls to hit, no clubs to buy?

| Ok. fine. Apologies if I have assumed wrongly and p3nboy is actually from the indigenious population here.
but the issue now here is the segregation with "Singaporeans" and Singaporeans. Why the need to draw the line?
The money prize and perks difference is just between regular olympics and paralympics which is another f-ed up thing.
If James Wong or Ang Peng Siong are able to compete today and actually won medals today, they would have gotten the same prize money as our ping pong team.
my issue now is what the line between pure-born singaporean and imported singaporean. Aren't all singaporean? They all have to pay taxes here every April/May, right?

We all know that "talents" were brought in, or rather BOUGHT IN, with extra perks that true blue singaporeans will not get to enjoy. What's wrong with the system?

| Actually from an economic perspective, Singapore had no choice but to open up their doors to foreign talent. Like in any developing/developed economies, people get married later and have lesser kids in order to pursue a better quality of life. Either they work more, or study more. When this happens, the demograpic population will become top heavy eventually, with smaller working population having to support a larger 'grey' population. Then we will become another Japan who is facing this problem because they refuse to open their doors to foreigners.
Having said that, i personally think that our systems and infrastructures were not ready for this type of huge foreign influx. Our value systems werent open to foreigners. Its always us and them. Our infrastrutures kept breaking down. And the influx of rich foreigners kept pushing property prices up resulting in the locals having to cough up a lot more for a property. Naturally there is a resentment against foreigners in this aspect.

I agree but I am also of opinion that if there is no pressure, there will be no progress. so if there are no influx of people to overload the infrastructure, nothing will be done to improve the infrastructure. Its sad things are that way, but hey, who said Life is fair?

Really? Always tot they were from desker. Desker was very competitive, so they moved out to Geylang. Food also more suited for us, got ketupat and rendang.

I don't think Nientsu disagrees with u MC. He is only trying to say that there are more subtle ways of bringing in more foreigners without disrupting the balance socially.

| In the end of the day, i foresee Singaporeans moving out to other countries to work. Seen a lot of my frens doing that in recent years. Some moved to China, some to Thailand, some vietnam, Australia, NZ, UK, states canada you name it. Most of them loved it there and the only reason why they come back, is because of their family and frens.
Just ask Winston if he wants to forgo vietnam to come back to Sg and work.
