| I like to change my oakley flak jacket lens to prescription lens. Anyone knew of any reasonable price optical shop? Looking at progressive, transition, polarize lens. Thanks

| I don't know if flak jacket lens can do prescription, cuz of the curvature of the lens... The last time my wife asked, ( she has severe astigmatism) there were only a few models that they can do prescriptions on.. And it's hell of expensive... | |

I did ask for flak jacket and apparently they say cannot do Maybe it's better to wear contact lens and then we can just wear off the rack sunglasses lol Anyone got experience wearing contact lens and playing golf for 4-5 hours under the sun/ rain and humid??

Anyone got experience wearing contact lens and playing golf for 4-5 hours under the sun/ rain and humid?? yes, i always did that whenever I feel like wearing sunglasses for my game...so far, i have any issue with it. I dun wear contact lenses very often, so it take me sometime to get use to it, but so far, everything is ok..

Anyone got experience wearing contact lens and playing golf for 4-5 hours under the sun/ rain and humid?? My friend ask before they said cannot due to the curvature design of oakley. Contact, I used to wear them for games, ok lah just that u need to get use to it. If not, good alternative is go Lasik, solve problem once and for all then u want simi sunglass also can.

| From what I was told, if you want prescription Oakleys which are within a reasonable budget, you'll need to get a full frame set of glasses. If they're half-framed, then the prescription lenses are very expensive and that's assuming that Oakley is able to supply them in the first place. | |

| Ok live example, i own a pair of flak jacket xlj with 2 sets of prescription lenses. My eyesight is about 100 shortsighted and 50 astig. I can get by the day not wearing specs but at night need to wear.
I ordered the prescriptions from this site after researching online. They seem to offer the best value and they have an actual shop front. Nevertheless still a gamble but compared to the SG prices i was willing o take the risk. You need to scan them your prescription which I had from making a pair of glasses. I suppose optical shops can write you a prescription for a small fee.
I managed to buy the flak jacket frame only from a hobbyist who sells these on his blog. All in cost for frame and 2 sets of lenses are around 800 to 900. Total cost if done in SG will be more than 2k.
One pt to note. I wouldn't recommend this route if you have high prescription. My glasses fog up a bit while playing so sometimes I take them off but still be able to make a decent swing/putt.

| Bro is your lens from Oakley? I did ask around and the results 1) some shop could order the lens from Oakley USA 2) some shop can do 3rd party lens I didn't ask them for a quote. My biggest concern is with fogging. I am going to check with other golfers this weekend.

| Yes that online shop sells genuine Oakley lenses. You can also make 3rd party lenses but I have not done research on those before.
For those local shops that can order lens from Oakley USA the price is pretty much fixed and very expensive. From what I understand, only those optical shop can order prescription oakleys. Those that only sell sunglasses cannot.

| I found this site www.balanceoptics.com. They are Oakley AD and their price is very reasonable. Seem like we can just order the lens directly from them. | |

| Looks like a good site too with competitive prices. However they don't seem to have the full choice of lens colour? For eg, the standard golf colour G30. | |

| I just ordered my flak jacket prescription lens from them. Will update once I receive my lens. I actually brought an iPad to a local optics shop this morning and compare their prices. We compare with the price catalog and found our local listed price almost double. Even the shop owner advices me to order through the net as he is unable to match the price. We compared item by item as I was his regular. For frame it's cheaper to get it in states. I got my flak jacket frame at us$78 and Oakley sine at us$35 shipped back via vpost. | |
