| I always get stuck on the fringe. If I chip nearer to the hole it will go way pass the hole, so how? Putting is not ideal too. | |

| I do a putt chip. I am sure you know. Using a wedge or PW and swing it like a putter. It work for me but be aware of the grass direction of the fringe. If it grow away from the green, be extra careful .. | |

| If fringe is not severely elevated as compared to where the ball is, I will use 52 wedge and land it on the fringe and let it roll towards the hole. If the hole is further away, I will use a lower lofted club to execute the same shot.I can use up to 8i. | |

| Jon, what if on a normal fairway, where you can't get the bounce under the ball? | |

52 and 58, both does'nt check. Probably need to practise a lot more to get consistent checks. Too difficult for me. I just bump n run the ball. 52* if more green to run, 56* if less. For a period (more than 6 months), I carry only a 56* so that I can get use to what it does when swing differently for different trajectories. Quite a good learning experience for me personally.

| I am not sure if its the right way, pls comment if it is...
I would do it like a bump n run (with ball slightly on the right foot and more body weight on left leg) but to make it check, i will need adjust the club (56/60) to be slight open in club face and with a clean shot to the ball.

| Unless the fringe/green is not up hill, chip or bump is not that consistent for me. | |

| bro ... wonder why you mention that putting is not ideal in this scenario? Is the fringe very raised? If deep rough I understand, but if in fairway, I would have thought using a putter would be the most reliable method? | |

| Since is 50/50 i think 56 of 60 wedge should be good enough, assuming it is level...
need to know how much your ball will usually roll for such distance and choose a landing spot... it could be just on the green or on the fringe and the ball should roll towards the hole.

| I may just putt it and hope for the best.
I don't have enough confidence for those short ones.

| Take a 54 or 56... depending on which you have in your bag... Just pitch it normally but instead of doing a sweeping motion (common pitching action)... Hit down on the ball (like doing a punch)...
The Ball will pop up and check on the green

| When I try that, I either duff or skull the ball. Whichever the case, I curse myself for trying to be cute with the game and wish that I had taken out the flat stick instead. | |
