Although I am too lazy to use iron covers locally (only when in transit overseas), there is probably no better way to minimize dinks and dents to preserve the value of your clubs. This is especially important if you are the kind of golfer that likes to switch sets. Better appearance = higher resale value.

Anyone who has seen my set can compare them with mloy's to see the effect of iron covers and meticulous care over time. We both got our clubs at about the same time, and the raw material is identical.

Mloy's still look like they can command a decent price while mine are probably worthless to anyone except myself.

Covering your irons is definitely a good habit to develop if you can be inclined.

Covering your iron is definitely a good habit to develop. You wouldn't want your iron to suffer from rust or other shock transmitted dings.

I just wanna caution that you oughta wipe your irons dry before putting the iron covers back on. I have seen rust developing on some irons cos the owners immediately put the covers back on after dipping the iron in the iron washer thingy after every shot
Best to take out all covers when back home to air the irons. Just my 2 cents.

There is only one risk....small one which I had personally experience.

I accidentally cover my 6 iron with #9 cover

so this is what happen.......on par 5...left with 90-100m......pick up the '9' iron...and walk to the ball.....setup...felt weird...why club so long.

There stare at setup again...wah !!! why so lack of LOFT. The check, NB.....6 iron la !!!

too lazy to go back and change......did a small punch shot....and then.....

so just becareful to ensure right cover

my irons are cast so no need for iron covers Sad

On a sidenote is it delaying play if I use iron covers ? take out put back take out put back.. Plus I'm always finding for my lost ball... Afraid that if I use iron covers, I'll slow down play even more.. Maybe bcos of this, I'll nvr change to forged irons

I don't see how taking out iron covers should delay play. What I do is.....pick up the clubs that I want to use remove the cover, put it in my pocket and when I am done put it back and slot it into my bag. Simple & quick. The ones that I bought from Big Fish is very good. Very easy to remove and put back. There are many colours to choose from too.

Me too, always ensure my forged irons was covered after every shot but my caddy is doing it for me hehehe albino

I used to use iron covers, until I read that iron covers may promote rust if club is not properly cleaned and dried prior to being covered. And I feel that sometimes, there's simply no time on course to fully complete that procedure.

Since then, I've gotten used to the idea that my clubs are gonna get banged up and it doesnt bother me anymore. In fact, now less heart pain when use also. lol!
