New JB highway

Went to JB this morning and tried the new highway which is supposed to increase the toll charges soon, got on it at Pandan and reached customs in 5 min. Enjoy while it's free

If they starts implementing $$, i rather not go JB then. The last i heard, their intent is to charge SG based cars. Siow, like that, you can expect no one wants to go JB no matter how cheap the food or things there.

yeah i won't go too. im sure most singaporeans can afford to pay the toll BUT it is the injustice tt pissing everyone off. Why pay for something u do not use??? Stupid or what???

can you double confirm that you will not go? sometime back a golfer's car was hijacked in JB, when interviewed, he said he will continue to play in JB......

what i heard is that they're raising the causeway toll to fund the crooked bridge ...

@p3nboy - YES, I am a TYPICAL Singaporean . I double confirm not going if the Malaysian made only Singaporeans pay the toll.

This is at the Woodlands side or Tuas? I was there last week, went in by Woodlands but did not see the new highway. Where exactly does the highway start? Sorry for the many questions. Tks.

Are you Malaysian?

At Woodlands side. Not easy to spot when you come out from JB custom but if you travel along Tebrau highway you will find the entrance at Pandan. It is also connected to E2 which is the NS highway. There was also no need to fill in white cards already

Truth is, if you're not happy with the highway, don't use it.

They always change their rule,today confirm tmr change.

SG does charge Malaysian cars coming into the island and I don't see anything wrong with charging toll as long as it is not too high. Everyone has the right not to go JB if they find the charges unreasonable but I am sure majority of Singaporeans will still continue to visit the north even though they bitch about it here and there.

The new highway is for cars coming from NS highway direction to SIN so dun think going in and coming back from terbau wil be any different...

I think the Gomen there are just playing their tricks. If they just ahead and list it as rm7or8, people would complain that is expensive. So what they do is set the whole thing up to rm15, then let people play it in their minds. Then ones they are done with it, they would say "ok we are listening to yall idiots, we will lower the toll price to rm7". Then whala....you have toll that rm 7... then we still ended paying thru our pockets... get it?

Anyway saw the new HW on the way back but missed the turn and took the same way through JB city back, traffic was smooth.

1) Toll increased at Woodlands or new toll/toll increase for the new highway?
2) NO need white card anymore? - My friend asked for the white cards and was told no more stocks, (?????). Asked how to come in like tat, they say no need anymore but if you have, they will take. (????? x2)

The EDL (Eastern Dispersal Link) just opened this week, i too it on Monday from Pandan and reached CIQ in 5 mins.

I think if they increase toll, more ppl will just take 2nd link and play at courses there like Horizon hills and Palm resort/Palm villa etc.

Everything will fall into place again. Malaysia charge toll, Singapore will follow suit. Who suffer? Their people who are working in Singapore will suffer and the shopping centres and restaurants too. Though it may seem unreasonable to charge the toll that one did not use, you are at liberty not to drive in if you don't wish to pay the toll. Take a public bus then and save all the troubles. But people being people, all it need is give them a little time and they will be back again, albeit swallowing the bitter pill and move on.

Just look at the erection of multiple ERP gantries around our island. Initially people complain here and there but finally took the bitter pill as it is a necessity. Re-routing would be too time consuming. Rescheduling the outings to another spot makes no sense. Batam? Tanjung Pinang, Bintan? Shopping? No way these places can offer better than JB.

If want to save a bit of Rm, golfers will pool in one car and share the cost among themselves. So it's peanuts to pay Rm7 for a group of 4 or even 3.

The ultimate decision rests on the individual. If the principle is not to pay the unreasonable toll, then don't go in by all means.

7 Rm ? Or S$2.80. I pay more for ERP going to work in the morning ... So what now ? Tell my boss I dun go coz ERP is unreasonable ? Go sentosa also ex , go orchard also ex... Then dun play golf la.. playstation 3, tiger woods.. no petrol to pay also.

This is the life we live in, if u can't see it the way they do, Malaysia dun need your money anyway.. and boy I will be happier going in with less traffic to deal with, all thanks to self righteous folks like u...

Actually ah, for toll charge of what RM7, i dont understand whats all this big hoo haa is all about. A wise man once told me,'Why are you concerned or worrired over something you have no control over?'

Like TDO suggested, if you want to save cost, why don car pool?

Actually if you wanna go and don't wanna pay the toll, u can use those small road lor. But of cos if got caught in jam. Don't complain.

Bro, you sure you are on the same channel here? I thought if the green light is on for this toll charges, anyone driving in will have to pay the toll at the CIQ itself, regardless of whether you use the highway or not right? Thats why all this arguement was all about. Or is it I am the one who had been misreading the press so far????
