all the talks on hitting it long, esp on how to hit your 9i to 150m by having forward shaft lean to deloft the club and lagging the release for power, don't interest me since i will never be able to hit it like bro sham or tourswing
instead, i would like to learn from sharpshooters in this forum, like derek and duval, on how to put it closer to the pin
my dispersion from 100m is about 30m around the pin, and i realised the importance when i played with bro TS yesterday.
when he casually told me "i am deadly from 100m in", i thought he's joking, and boy i was wrong. from anywhere within 100m, he will put it 10m around the pin and putt to gimme. i paid for my folly dearly.

That's a long-standing joke, bro.
I tell myself that since I can't drive, I can try my best to arrive. Yesterday, I was very fortunate. My wedges worked well. (Love those fourteens.) But it's not always like that - in fact, it's rarely like that.
That said, I do think that the game of golf is made more by how you arrive than how you drive. Of course, having both makes you deadly but if I had to choose, I'd take a killer short game over driving distance.
You just happen to see me playing better than usual. It's not my true ability. More often than not, I suck big time. But then again, I will say that having great company and fun-loving flightmates (with awesome weather and a beautiful course) really got me settled
I'll play with you again and you'll see... I'll be back to walking the dog, duffing and shoveling my way around the course... 100m in or otherwise.

Actually, I told ZX that I'm deadliest from 5 inches in... well, most of the time anyway.

Totally agree with you.. Used to lose to this friend of mine who consistently drive only 200m, which is way behind me.. But, you don't see him hit double bogeys and pars most if not all the par 3 and 5.... His utility wood from 160m is on the green....
Having sad that, allow me to OT a bit and give some credit to Louis from BFG Keppel... Used to "super draw" my 7 wood and P iron.. Spent some $$ to re shaft them and all are beautifully straight now... Will look to reshaft the other irons to give a much more consistent and straight hit..
Perhaps you can share why you can't put on with your irons...

I did the same thing last Sunday. 98 meter ( I know as I am using my rangefinder ) to the front pin. I hit it with my 50 loft wedges, 2 feet in front on the pin.
The story do not end here, as the other 17 holes I hit on the left or right rough or short or very short of the green ( how to do play better like that ??) .. I guess I am happy I can did it once in round and hoping to get another one on another day

Sorry to ask... But re-shaft can help on hooking? May I know from what shaft they change u to what shaft? Why is it that help solve the draw problem?
Hope to learn a bit more on this...

HIHI
Honestly though I have been playing decently (below 16) for all these years, I'm really weak with the hardware and technicalities..
I won't say I hook (else my friends will call me a hooker) but just for some clubs I tend to draw very much to the left...
He changed my P and 9 iron to nspro steel.. Accordingly, my swing is strong and the graphite is too light for me..Both hitting straight now, though i must say the steel cut my distance of the 2 clubs by say about 5m..
My 7 woods was too whippy too.. Changed to a stiff and heavier graphite and its been flying straight as well... Distance a bit shorter perhaps cos I don't draw so much now, to about 170m..
Overall I'm happy with the change, like all said before, it's how you arrive....
Hope this helps.. chien
