| Executive Golf Course in Mandai. Weekdays it's $32 for 18 holes. Combination of Par 3s and 4s (Par 4 can use driver type).
I like their Hole #7, a Par 3 where you tee off from an elevated platform.
Good place for beginners (like me) and to practice your short game

| Time to finish - 2hrs thereabouts if you're playing by yourself?
Par 3 == Number of strokes you take to complete the hole. So a Par 3 holes means that you take 3 strokes to get the ball into the hole.
No need to book. Walk up to counter and pay. If there's people just wait a while. Weekday late mornings / afternoons are practically deserted.

You can wear track shoes to play if you like, in other countries it's pretty common. However golf shoes provide some grip on the terrain when your walking or playing a shot around the course eg. Playing a shot on a severe uphill or downhill slope. So like mostly anything in life it's just how much your willing to spend to get the desired outcome.

| If you have time why not try walking to malaysia to play during the weekdays, lots of good deals and at least you ll be able to experience a proper 18 hole game. | |

In Golf, balance is of essence. When I started out over a year ago, I was thinking, "Why should I need Golf Shoes and Gloves?" After 3hrs of lessons, I realised how important gloves are. After 6hrs of lessons, I understood why golfers wear golf shoes to the Green. All these, without my Instructor telling me anything. But simply through a process of self-realization. Of course, it depends on how much you're willing to invest time (and money, like all other things in life) into this little game. But not to tell you to rush out to buy a whole set of clubs only to realise that you hate the game and to sell it. Start off with the things you are comfortable with: A pair of comfortable shoes, clothes. Ask your friends or the club if they have clubs to rent. If you decide that this game is not for you, you can end it. If you think you'd want to go all out with this game (and the little sacrifices you have to make), walk your own path. Most Importantly: Enjoy yourself.

| Mandai, JCC and NSRCC Par 3 course are all walk-in and can just go alone to play? Or they will pair you with others in a flight? HC needed? | |

For Mandai you can definitely walk in, pay and play all by yourself. I would do that sometime on weekdays, play a 1-ball 18 hole game :-) Not sure about NSRCC and JCC though. I've played a 2-ball at JCC (2 x 5 hole). I guess if it's a weekday they should be pretty relaxed with the rules. Think for the executive courses in SG, you don't need HCP. At least I know Mandai and JCC don't ask for it. HTH

Thks Bro! Very useful. Have never played before 1-ball. Will try playing alone soon, maybe can get a better score with less pressure and distractions

| I guess just relax, fire off and enjoy the game.
Don't worry too much about how your flight mates see you. I'd ever ended up doing more gardening than golf with a friend. I'd also teed-off with a nice short back-swing and a beautiful flying ball that goes straight 230 yards.... past the OB marker, bounced on the road and bounced straight into other people's home.
Yes, all that embarrassment.... And huge accompanying laughs, and we all continue on our game.
Learn to laugh at yourself on the golf course! You will find that being a more valuable lesson in your golf journey than scoring the par or birdie!

I ever teed off, nice posture and all, and somehow end up with a mother-of-all hooks, with the ball lying 5m facing my back (yes, my back) I also ever chipped across a cart path, only the hit the kerb of the path, bounce back and land 1m from where I started my chip. These make good memories ! hahahah

| I just played in NSRCC last Saturday for the first time. Interesting course....they checked handicap and if you don't have at least a PC, they will require you to do a swing test (no extra charge). Paid SGD 40.60 for the weekend.
The flight ahead of me was a single person flight but given no one was ahead of him, he was playing with 3 balls. Inconsiderate so we need to occasionally call him to move once we see him shooting more than 2 balls.
